The short one is making faces and the taller one tells him to grow up... but a candle cannot grow up. It can only continue melting down. That's why it's called "mission impossible".

When someone describes a person as thick it means that they are stupid. It's English slang. Like a thick skull so it's harder to get to their brain might be how it means that. I'm not sure on the origins of it. I read that you are from Slovakia, do you use much slang in your language?
