i love Evangelion, i had to make a fanart ^__^rei *o*
the background was inspirated by another eva-pic from gainax
the outlines were done in opencanvas3 and the colo in painter9
i spend the last night for this picture but it spend not so much time then my "alex-arttrade" picture because iΒ΄ve found a new technique (for me XP ) in painter with using selections like opencanvas.^^

Ah, I think I faved this one back then for the realism (besides the EVA faving spree)
It really draws an excellent comparison of how you've improved so strongly over the pieces you have now and the foundation you started off with. I'm sorry fi ti took me this long to comment though, hit and run fave! ^_^;

Wow, this is very striking! The colors and overal design really make it "pop" out at you. I like how you didn't give her the typical "big-eyed" anime look, and toned her face to look more human/normal. It makes it more unique and your own. 
The only critique I would offer would be to smooth out the smoke clouds emanating from the ground by the unit-one eva in the background. They look like spirally circles, and not smoke. But I still knew what it was meant to portray, so it's not that big of a deal.
Great color choices and shading, and I also like the texture you gave her hair. Her pose is very natural and casual too.
I'm currently making my own realistic portrait of Rei, so please keep an eye out for it. I'd like to hear what you think once it's finished.
