Description Entry for 's Winter in the Woods competition. **Won 3rd place in the competition!!**

Started out as just the image in the main photo but even though I was happy with the masking it still needed some mood.

I began fiddling with sepia tones and started thinking about those famous hoax photos taken in the early 1900s by those English girls. I added a white "photo" border and had an earlier version of a photo album with black pages and corner tabs. Then it still needed more so...well I just got a bit carried away I guess!

**Edit 16/2/07**

Have been fidgeting away at this for the last week or two. I wanted to change the wings and get a smoother finish to the skin and the scene in general. Have also added another piece to the end of the skirt to make it sit better around the roots/ground. Original version can be found here [link] for comparison.

Many thanks to the following stock artists:

Sorry I Didn't tell you this earlier, I should've. But, I made a picture and put your border from this picture on there. If you don't want me to have the picture anymore I'll delete it, cause it's mainly yours.

But other than that... here it is hope you like it.

hmmm...only problem is that the border uses another stock image. Check the comments section of my image for credit to the original stock provider - you'll need their permission as well as mine. Also you may want to check the copyright restrictions on the Paramore image too, unless they've specifically said it's available for use, my understanding is that this would breach copyright.

Oh ohkay. I'll check right now. It never said anything about copyright but, I'll check and see if it does somewhere. Thx though.

I haven't seen something so different from other artworks on dA for ages. Everybody does almost the same (me too, hehe but you gave me inspiration for trying something else - thanks ) Congrats for the 3rd place in the contest! And this is outstanding. The sepia tones are awesome, the frame from the old photo and this style of photo album... Fabulous. It reminds me my grandma's photos... Really well done BTW - how did you make sepia? I have always problem with this...
Definetely

Thanks very much indeed! I guess it just kinda took on a life of it's own once it got started! To do the sepia tone I desturated the image by 60% then put a photo filter over the top in a brown/tan at 75%. Then there were textures in overlay mode over the top that lightened it all up.

This is simply beautiful. I love the speia tones it gives the picture a wonderful old-time, vintage feel. And I love her dress and everything else! I definitely think this one is an improvement compared with the other, even though the other one was very beautiful as well. I love that you put it on a photo page as well. And congrats for 3rd place!

Very nice image.
I think the added on bit, to the dress, would work better, if it was slightly darker, like the rest of the dress.

Thanks

This is fab honey! There was one thing that really made me impressed with this (and although I'm a sucker for sepia and B&W photos it wasn't that lol)
Its the fact that the bottom of the dress fits so perfectly over the roots of the tree lol I'll have to go back to my stock to compare

Really great work and good luck in the comp!!! Thanks for using my stock!!

jane-mirage In reply to Elandria [2007-01-10 20:42:00 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Actually when I first placed it the tail of the dress was sticking out in mid air. I sliced the end off and moved it down to look more natural. Being a dark dress it was fairly forgiving
