I painted over the first B&W image ( [link] ) with various colors on paint-over layers, some of which I set to blending modes (Color Burn, Hard Light, etc.).
For the original B&W, I didn't paint over the original photo, just referenced it.

The palette for the very last one is actually based on one of those tests for "color blindness". So if you desaturate it completely, the image becomes... well, it doesn't disappear completely (as a true color blindness test would), but it becomes less distinct.
It seemed a lot cooler when I was painting it.
