*this looks like hell until you click on it - it doesn't even get any bigger but the 'preview' is so blurry UGH*Hi DA. It's been awhile. Have this Benedict Cumberbatch I did as digital painting practice like, 6 months ago (it's also at my Tumblr if you swing that way)
I have been making art, just .... slowly, and painfully. Maybe posting again will help get my ass in gear. Even if the art isn't super new....and with the Sherlock season 3 teaser just out... the timing seemed right.

One could have thought that this was a photography! Benedict Cumberbatch (who shall be known as Cheekbones Cumberbatch to me from now on to eternity) has a really unique face artists rarely get completely right. You prove an eye for detail again though. The expression, the lips (<3), the eyes, the eyebrows, the cheekbones, the noes... I'm pretty sure even the ears are right! I don't know how you do it, but whatever you create, it's stunning. You bring out the best in what you draw and make it absolutely mesmerizing! I also love the deliberately frayed border of the picture. And your shading is superb. I wonder how long it takes for you to create something like this? Thank you for sharing it (however impatient it made me for season 3)

*sigh* oh Benedict.... your wonderful face... it's funny, there are so many actors who I would love to draw, not because i find them necessarily 'attractive', but just because they have wonderfully interesting features. Maybe i'll do a series.
and this took me a long time! I work really slowly (I'm not one of those people who can do something like this in a few hours) ... I worked on it off and on for about a month (I have no idea how many hours it took!)

Oh yes, please do so! It sounds like a real challenge, but also a worthy cause. And it's a good theme, to go with interesting and maybe even unusual features. And Cheekbones Cumberbatch would be a worthy beginning for any series

you know... it's funny... there's such a strong urge to make skin flawless, but truly flawless skin is actually kindof creepy looking (have you ever really looked at makeup ads in fashion mags? the models look kinda like aliens...). Little imperfections are what make us real, and they're kind of fun to work in

I actually loved drawing his eyebrows! It's weird the things that end up being interesting to execute from an artistic or technical standpoint - and awesome when other people recognize it!
