another one that reminds me very much of a story by stanislav lem - "der unbesiegbare", which plays on a planet, where only the machines have survived and "live" on, killing each other, defending themselves...
the humans are eliminated by little metal flies, which are harmless as long as there are only one or two or a few - once there are many of them and they feel threatened, they build thick swarms, sort of link themselves together energetically, thus gaining a higher intelligence, surround the victim, build up a high power energy field, focus it on the brain and - knack - one flash of energy erases all thoughts and memories, leaving the human a mindless zombie, doomed to die of thirst and hunger, because he doesn't know anymore that he has to drink and eat...
hmmm, your picture looks friendlier though...

Hi Diet, thanks for your comment again. I still didn't read one of Lem's books, this story sounds quite horrible, compaired with my "Narrow Escape".Β  Β My piece reminds me more of one of the scenes in Star Wars, Darth Vader hunting Luke Skywalker in his jetplane, flying through a narrow ravin.

you're welcome, jan - yes, that's what i said, you don't show these horrors, and that's why i like your fractal manips so much: you bring light and air into them...
if lem sounds too horrible to you, but you still like to read, i can highly recommend another book, a classical - it's sort of the other side of the scale, perhaps more fantasy than sci fi, softer and a bit melancholicΒ  - "the martian chronicles" by ray bradbury... i also read that again and found it a very fine book...

Thanks again, Diet. I read Ray Bradbury a long time ago...Fahrenheit something. But I'll also read Lem, I guess. And thanks for your kind words about me bringing light and air into my manips. Β Β

you're so welcome, jan...
in fact you are the first one i remember who used the mandelbulb technique in that enchanting "lighteous" way - the first works in MB3D that i saw, sort of scared the sh... out of me, and i found them very creepy and dark...
one of the first of your works that i saw is this one - just read my comment again, that says it, haha...

Yes, I understand what you mean. I called these fractal-creatures "frexels", and I even considered the possibility of writing an illustrated book about frexels, specially for children. Your Robi's have the same atmosphere, I gues. Finally I only created 5 frexel-pieces.Β
For me, an artwork has to tell a story, or rise questions. A nice image is not enough. You love nature, so do I. And so it's understandable that we both love organic looking fractal images. We also both love SF, and SF stories often have a surreal,Β kind of alieneating atmosphere. So my artwork has organic looking, surreal, sometimes SF-like elements.

I'm very glad you like my artwork.
It's not available in print right now.Β The prints from Deviant Art are of poor quality in my opinion.Β But it's certainly possible to buy a printed version. The price will depend on the measures, and also the materials used for printing. Usually I have it printed on dibond and covered byΒ acrylate, but other methods of mounting are possible of course. Β Let me know what you want and I'll see what I can do for you.

first off, your so very welcome.Β  I can see were u want your pieces done the best possible way.Β  This is for a kid that will change his taste withing 2 years tops so I dont want to spend a lot of money on a print that will be tossed aside.Β  My hubby and I do framing and mounting and cut our own mats so the quality that DA has is just fine for him(the grandson) and then when he changes his taste we will just take that pic out and replace it with something else. I noticed a lot you do have prints for DA so I don't mind paying for their poor quality but personally for the grandson it is good enough.Β  I know DA doesn't give a lot back for the prints bought from them but can u submit it there and if not I totally understand.Β  Edie

Ah Ah...I have a particoular relationship with dragons! I belong to the oriental Sign of Dragon (as year of birth)...Normally I have agreement with other dragons, but who can say?!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

janhein In reply to DorianoArt [2013-12-22 21:03:59 +0000 UTC]

I never fought a dragon. Nor did I have a particular relationship with a dragon. All I know is that you can become a saint, killing a dragon, like Saint George. But my name is Janhein, and I've never heard of a saint called Janhein. So I gues that I don't have any chance to kill a dragon and become a saint. Another problem is that a dragon has a protected status, because of the fact that they became very rare the last couple of thousands of years. We probably risk a long time in prison if we kill a dragon. I'm pretty shure that the dragon knows all these things. So if he (she? ?) feels that his (her) life is in danger, he (she?) will try to escape. And that's what you can see in this image. Β

So you seem to be a dragon too. It means, that you're in great danger. You are a protected species, but nevertheless: Beware!Β Β
