A little Sideproject i finally finished after some time.Plates are 1,5mm thick Aluminium.

Plates only weight 4,5kilo the Leather of the Belt and Vest is a bit heavier - i think all together 11-12 kilo

That's not too bad. When I was in the Army I wore a kevlar vest and helmet, Protective mask, LBE with a sidearm and ammo, plus an M16. I weighed it all one day and I think it was around 30 pounds or more. What sucked was I wore this everyday to work as a Military Police Officer in a Special Weapons Depot. I definitely think Mandalorian Armor is much cooler looking.

My other Armor (the Blue from my profile pic) weighs around 35 kilo. ^^
When I was in the Army somedays i'd had to carry 60 kilo's around thanks to a buerocratical thoughtchild during the introductionphase of the new MG. XD

It was during the Introduction of the MG4. Before the Main-MG of the Bundeswehr was the MG3 ( a MG42 rebarreled for 7,62x51 ^^).
The Old MG-doktrin said: 1MG = 2 Man. One Gunner and one Support
The New Doktrin for the MG4 said: 1MG = 1 Man.
Diffrence?
MG3 = 12,5kg (the gun alone) + reserve barrel, reserve Bolt (you had to change both regular to cool down ^^) + Toolset + enough Ammo. Make sense to split the weight of two persons.
MG4 = gunempty about 7Kg + some 5,56 Rounds.
Problem? The Doktin was introduced years before the Troop got the new Rifle ^^

So the doctrine was written for the lighter MG4 and your unit adopted the new doctrine...but you didn't have the weapon the doctrine was written for? lol! So you are carrying a MG3 with all of its gear and you are also the ammo bearer? Don't you love how the military blindly follows the rules when it makes no sense to do so?
The nice thing about being a Military Police Officer is we usually had vehicles all the time and didn't have to carry much on our person.

the old doctrine was also written when the G3 was the standard Infantry-Rifle (7,62x51).
the new one was written with the G36 in mind with 5,56 like the MG4
So it would make sense to carry your Rifle with you even if you are MG Gunner because you can use the Ammo for both Guns. ^^
Well how that works if you have an MG3 and a G36 with two diffrent Callibres you can figure out.

Making Cloth look old and used ist easy.
throw it into the dirt and kick it, use black shoewax and rub it all over it (in small doses), use some brown and black spraypaint to tone it down in a colorhaze...
