This is definitely the best piece of your Deviant Art gallery. I love the mood, I love the colors, wonderful scene, it looks very simple, no fancy stuff, but it express a lot of feelings. Such a great piece of work.
One thing that I would really, really love to know and if you can share would be just great, is the lighting set up.
Well Done!

Thank you SeekerofAwe! Sure, no problem at all, the light setup was a fairly simple one - Key light, Fill light and 3 or 4 Rim lights (cant remember exact amount). The lights themselves were all Spotlights, the Key had quite a large penumbra angle to create the soft falloff towards the edges of the image. Indirect lighting was faked in the sense that I had a large spotlight on the ground simulating light-bounce upward and onto the mushroom itself. No real world lighting was used, no decay, just standard light. I was going for drama, not real world lighting.
However, what made the difference, and what I spent a massive amount of time on was the colour, intensity of each light, and there placement in relation to the camera. For my workflow, I generally always know what mood Im going for in a piece, so I tend to setup up my lights first before even placing any geometry in a scene (I sometimes use cubes to block in the scene during this phase). That way the mood is already there and i can then just get on with adding geometry etc. i obviously then tweak and adjust lighting at the end as well.
Anyway, I hope this kind of helps and answers your questions!
