Description Because I hate it when people try to justify their objectionable behavior by invoking Asperger's Syndrome. You are bringing shame on folks who really have the disorder.

Yeah.
Me, personally, I use "turning in bed" for live persons.
e.g. "That cut to NOAA is making Bob Ballard turn in his bed."
P.S. Met Ballard. Nice guy.

THANK YOU! I'm sick of people who don't have it using it as a crutch and people using it as an insult! Stop it people! Autism isn't a bad thing ok!?!?

I'd rather die right on the spot than use my asperger syndrome as an excuse when I screw something up. People who use their autism as an excuse sicken me just as much as those people who think autistics are all either complete douche bags and attention whores or all mute and stupid.

Did you notice that three times as many people said the definition is shit than said it was good? The reason for that is simple. Aspies are actually as different as the colors of the rainbow. Why? Because Asperger's is a diagnosis based on 29 possible conditions. In other words, you may have it even if you don't "hate everyone who isn't like you".

By the way, Suspected Diagnoses: 08-23-08
Official Diagnosis: 01-07-12

It's something I've known for years but I guess I should just lay down and die because I didn't have enough money to go see a psychologist to get the official nod. Although it wouldn't have done me very good because I have already been misdiagnosed on four separate occasions.

He definitely would, were he able to listen to the condemnable prattle some NTs offer as an excuse for indifference towards other people.
Asperger's Syndrome is rare. Albeit there was a significant increase in the amount of cases diagnosed as Aspergers within the last decade. In cases of self-diagnosed autism spectrum disorder
one should remain skeptical all the same.

But I fear H. Asperger would be astounded to find there are female Aspergers as well!

I know what you mean. I have AS myself...maybe. I'm not sure because I didn't speak until I was four. When I tell people I have AS, just out of random conversation or to explain the meaning of a certian picture, people argue with me becuase of their negetaive expireces with bratty self-diagnosers. I've been accused of using AS as an excuse, but no one would ever tell me what I was trying to excuse. Those people were nothing more than conformity obsessed bullies with their own mental problems anyway.

I was talking to someone about how I think Yohen Vaquez could be on the specturm and talking about echoliaia and they bascialy told me to shut up about it and to stop obsessing over it. It really angers me when people tell me to stop obsessing over things. Instead of getting into a pissing contest, I just said, "Perhaps I should just stop dicussing it with YOU" and never said another word to them. But I think this person has had some bad expirences with self diagnosers. I hate self diagnosers.

LiteralNovice [2011-04-05 11:09:02 +0000 UTC]

Of course, the people that try to shrug off their douchebaggery with AS probably searched up Wikipedia and tried to make the symptoms apply to themselves.

I have Aspergers, as I was diagnosed with it as a child by a doctor, and whilst it was noticeable in my childhood as I was put in a special class for the first year and then tried to put me in a normal school for the years after that, I started to grow out of it, and in my opinion, apart from small quirks which aren't that noticeable, I function quite well. Unlike some people who don't and say that they have AS.

i've heard its difficult to diagnose and i know a man whose marriage counselor just MENTIONED the possibility(he was spending more time on the computer playing RPG than he was with his own wife and kids - said it was the only thing he enjoyed) and no sooner did she say that than he went home, looked up the symptoms and turned into an even bigger dick head... he even threw his wife into the desk when she tried unplug his computer.....

i hate people self diagnose anyway..... its usually just another way for them to cop out on responsibilities.

Seriously. I hate to say this but Aspergers IS a disorder not a gift. We may be able to do well in math and things like that but it makes life so much harder. Don`t make it hard for others(whether it be normal ppl or aspies) too by being obnoxious.
*I know I sound mean but I`ve been officially diagnosed by a doctor and everything(dunno if that makes it better lol)*

AS is classified as a disorder, but everyone struggles with things. Aspies struggle with different things in different ways. In many ways it is a gift; I consider it to be a part of me. You're right though, it makes many things hard, and some days I wish I could just throw it away. But I don't know who I am without it,and I'm terrified of how I and my whole world might change, so even if I could, I wouldn't.

So, I kinda agree.

From one Aspie to another... It's tough because not a lot of people understand you. I personally have been misdiagnosed at least four times and ended up getting mistreated over things that I never understood.

But yeah, Asperger's is a gift that comes at a heavy cost.

I already know about Asperger's. I graduated from a school that specialized in teaching students with learning disabilities.

I got out of a school that specialized teaching students with learning disabilities. They just enable the kids to do whatever the fuck they want with no consequences because they're SPECIAL ^_____^, hand out accommodations like it's candy, and make excuses for when a student fucks up (Oh it's not your fault you haven't done homework for three months, you have ADD!)

That doesn't make you an authority. If anything that dampens your credibility because they'll just hand out diagnoses that don't even make sense.

I went to a completely different school. My school's academic philosophy was that they hired teachers who had the same learning disabilities as the students, so that they could actually teach us in an effective way. We also had to provide real medical proof that we actually had a learning disability in order to get accepted to the school.

When I was younger I was a student in a school that did it right, they actually attempted to help improve our ability and help us be more suited to life outside the school. I've never found a time in my life where I blame my disabilities and most people don't even realise I have them unless I mention it.
