I noticed many of your subjects looked rather sad, is this melancholy somewhat your state of mind, which helps you brilliantly render that so convincingly in all your paintings carrying such mood? I am your fan

It reminds me of Degas or Manet impressionist work. Something about the look in the faces makes me think of the alienation and isolation that so many artists reacted to during the industrial revolution. So much of your work is extrordinary.

whew. I am a newbie here at DA and I just went through your
gallery.. you're imho one of the best artists around here.
I could fav almost all of your works but I thought that would
be exaggerating. I ended up in this one, which succeeds in
being hilarious and serious at the same time. technically this
artwork is awesome

as a matter of fact, this is like any bar at any given time in my
native Finland

Perhaps not a painting to make Renoir gasp... But a clear statement and amusing as such. I might prefer this darker and less warm... (all those warm colors, such a cold mood!)

This is a beauty of painting

First of I have not comment much on your work been doing a lot of painting on my own but your stuff is amazing! I kind of looked for one that did not have loads of favorite to give you favorite on it hehe

Like all your paintings the characters really show the mood of the people and β€œHappy Hour” is one great painting for that… The irony of the title with the feeling of the painting is great the composition is well done the colors are balanced perfectly just like all your paintings. I really like you style of painting and how your able to represent the moods of your characterization in your people in the paintings. You have a great ability to paint moods. I would have wished to be closer to where you had your exhibition but well I am very far away in NJ

The style of painting is very much your own and that is magnificent… you really do not mind showing the strokes of paint in your work it really gives it the mood your trying to place into it, somewhat impressionistic in your style All your paintings are awing

Keep it up and you’re already in dev list been on my dev since I stepped into this site which it is not long. I am also happy that a traditional artists like your self is one of the most famous ones in this site it takes true skill to paint on canvas

i've looked through some of ur stuff and it really is amazing
your concept of form, shape, colour and lighting is perfect and you have a great individual style
it's nice seeing someone using traditional art methods
do u do the pieces that small and scan them in or take digital photo's of them to post?
just curious

*sigh* Frankly, I don't get why a digital airbrushing of an LOTR character can get 225+ favs, while this can only get eight. . . People are messed up. I haven't had the heart to pick another favorite since this was released, in fears that I will not be able to go to my deviant page and see this. . .

This really reminds me of a modern version of Van Gogh's self portrait. The both use blues in places you'd never expect them, they're both ever so slightly exaggerated, and they're both by great artists.

I'll call you Vinnie then.

I keep coming back to my deviant page and seeing this in my favorites. . . I end up dazing off, staring at it. It really is an enchanting piece, with so much personality. you feel like every character here has a story, and they are glancing up from their lives just long enough for this moment to exist. . . I'm sorry, I just think it's too great to have left only my original comment. I wish I was half the painter you seem to be here. Whew. If I could give it another favorite, believe me I would.

A very sad piece indeed, but very thoughtful too. Your title totally contrasts the piece, which is something I don't see much on DevArt, so good choice with that. What's neat about this painting is that there are so many elements that would suggest this is actually a "happy" happy our, like the brightness of the colors, yet the facial expressions say it all. It takes so little to change the mood of a piece like this. Very awesome.
