I love the narrative feel to your paintings, and this one's a great example... tempting the unsuspecting viewer to use their imagination and create a story to explain the picture. Creative writing teachers could use your art as prompts.

Love what you did with the background, with the green washes and the peek of canvas! Palette knives are so much fun to play with, the challenge is knowing when to stop so you don't ruin the painting!

why should you try to get away from it? your style is like a revisionist's. it's highly expressionistic. i personally think it's great. are you perhaps saying this because you want to experiment more?
i had art teachers in college try to put down cartoon and comic-like styles as something not "sophisticated enough".
it seems to me from what i can gather about art movements/history etc, the establishments are always trying to declare what art is and is not, while the movement always becomes what it is of it's own accord, regardless of the critic-community.it seems that was the case with dadaism and with street art (graphiti, guerilla art, etc.) and many others before.
