LOOKING FOR PRE-READERS AND EDITORS
Rapture is copyright of BioShock, My Little Pony to Lauren Faust, Fallout:Equestria(original) credited to Kkat, blah blah blah, okay that's out of the way.
Shoot me a note or comment here or on my page if you're interested. I'll prefer a note though since it's easier to keep track of. For the rest of this, I'll just blabber on about what I have planned and what my goals are for this fic, setting wise.
The Drowned takes place 700 years after the original Fo:E story, and is a cross-over with BioShock and a whole bunch of other games(The Last of Us But considering The Drowned takes place seven centuries after, there would obviously be a lot more places to explore. Places like Hydrostable Rapture, hidden away for all this time and still running the old arcane technologies. Columbia, formerly known as New Cloudsdale; a reconstruction of the pegasus capital. As well as new places, the characters will go to old ones like Spike's cave, where the memorials stay standing yet forgotten. There will be a lot of remnants to pick up from seven centuries ago, as well as further back during pre-war times. FoE has always been a sort of gameworld type fic. EFS, SATS, perks, etc etc. I want to expand off of that as well, adding weapon attachments and upgrades and some other things to the 'game'. Now that civilization is restored, the characters can now acquire these weapons through proper stores via credits. Now that technology and magical research has expanded, a lot of new weapons will be available. Things like the Thermic Series weapons, which fire rapid bursts of miniature suns that home in on a target you have selected on your EFS; vastly improving hit chances. Since the main character is a cyborg, he can purchase cybernetic upgrades. Compact Series holsters: hide a pistol in your front leg! or Electric Knuckles: cosy hand shakes! I also want to add at least one image to each chapter(like the one above). I realized that books are quite a visual experience when reading Project Horizons and a few other fics, with their occasional colored word or bold letters or italics or that demon text thing I never quite figured out. So yeah, hopefully there'd be an image after each chapter. I think it'll be fun to do, and no one's ever too old for picture books. I don't want to talk too much about the story just yet, because you know- spoilers and stuff. But hopefully that got a few people interested, and if you are; the first chapter is on FiMFic as a preview. It's really just one important crossover with The Drowning, I just don't want people recognizing things from other places that are undeclared. Just makes it look cheap.

Nope. I probably should though, since while reading through what I have so far I noticed some inconsistencies about the Falcon... I'll need to make a finalized version some time

ok then, so when do you think the final edit of TD with be finished? I always loved TLOU and I know I'm going to love this, you already have a good story, I would love to see the final cut

It was due for release this year but I didn't anticipate so much life related work :/
Plus there were a few set backs with iCloud screwing me over. Six chapters into volume one and suddenly chapter 3 gets erased for no reason.
But what'll probably happen is that, sometime in the future, Vol. 1 will be released as a bit of an extended pilot in addition to the prologue and chapter 1 which is already up on fimfic. I'll determine whether or not the project'll be worth the time based on public reactions afterwards- but until then I'll do my best to get V1 finished

I've been reading through your story, I noticed the "last of Us" reference and I can understand the bioShock reference being underwater and all, but what made me crack up was calling his gun "the Diplomat" XD you have made a very nice story and I didn't notice any spelling errors, but I might have missed some by them being long painfully long words, I never understand how to even pronounce them, anyway your doing really good with the story, I'd say because of the high tech from being so long after Fallout: Equestria and them having a second war to give them better experience your story is on par if not better then Horizons but that's mostly because of the high tech, for me anyway, your story doesn't have the massive amount of originality as Project Horizons but it's not as slow, you manage to build up emotion fast (like Experience during battle) and I would love to know why there is only one alicorn left, it does give it a lot of story to it but would make a few alicorn lovers rather disappointed, keep up the good work and I hope to see another chapter soon ^_^

Meeeeh, really. gl and so on, but personally I am not interested in reeading such fic. (as if my opinion have value for random people on the net)
In details, I don't believe that one can merge very much of everything and make one high quality story.

I'm glad I get comments like this because otherwise I'd never know why people wouldn't read such a fic. While I'm not going to try and convince you that you should read the fic, I'm just going to go ahead and clarify that the crossovers don't really affect the story. The story is gonna be a whole thing and I'll make it as linear with the original as possible. Most of the crossover parts come in with the world the story takes place in: I.e. You have tidbits from a lot of things, like Rapture from BioShock, the Drowned from the Drowning(I know right), Thermic weapons from Galaxy on Fire, etc etc. it will affect the story but it will be minimal.
I agree with you on your last point, but with some altering I'll do my best to make it linear with everything else so it doesn't feel like a huge mismatch.
Plus, my prereaders should be able to keep me in line

I see what ya did there- good job too, as they would need a new cloudsdale and it ties perfectly with your melding of the bioshock lines into the fallout lines

HOWEVER It could be said that they are in the same time period. All that 50's look combined with the amazing feat of ability matches up with Fallout's 2077/50's look perfectly

This art on Equestria Daily grabbed my attention. The idea of Rapture being a Stable is fantastic, not to mention your other plans. If done correctly, this could end up amazing, but such bold ideas may be difficult to pull off well.

Rapture as a stable was actually Somber's idea. He mentioned it once in Project Horizons and it was never brought up again, so I don't think he's gonna put that in which is why I'm going to use it instead

Sounds to me like your story is almost trying to revamp things: taking basic structure that worked and hopefully adding more to make a different but no less enjoyable experience. The fact you don't mention Fallout (and FoE) as a source you're taking inspiration from slightly worries me but I am led to assume you left it out as the source was a given.
I don't know what I can say in defense to what I expect though. As is quite apparent from your earlier works there seems to be some disparage between how good they are and how your audience perceived them. Your second BH story seemed to definitely hit a mark with your readers but the first was a tough sell and I have no clue what your third is doing for the readers. I almost want to say it was the links between separate stories that may have played a part in BH2's high success rate that gave it its flair but you changed the formula so much between the three I can't rightly tell. However, if you do do whatever it is that gave your story such a positive outlook as BH2 did then I have extremely high hopes for this next work of yours.
I will go out and say that I fear what may come of your openly asking for pre-readers and editors instead of going for tried and true ones but then I'd be following the formula I hate in the current job market (which I'll end right there).

Popularity is such a random thing, I don't even bother with it. If it comes it comes, if it goes it goes. As for editors, I check their dAs. They usually post their own literature stuff there so I get to have a look at what they have to offer
