freaking fantastic. Instant fav. I don't understand why this hasn't gotten anymore Favs or comments.

I think it's perfect, great detailed drawing ( the working time paid off totally. asian signs ! thicker lines combined with thinner ones is a good nodge ) and sweet balanced coloring. and the whole has a great composition too.

what could make this piece even better ?
a funny idea, a message, like a creature between those houses saying or doing something funny ? it's not necessary, but if you have a great ( perfect ) illustration like this combined with something funny, ironical, etc it's epic win.

Wow, thanks for the thoughtful comments. for this I was really just trying to create a pattern out of the roof tops that might look good applied to something like a tee shirt or maybe just a pretty picture someone might want to buy. Of course, I do hope to say something and I'm glad you mentioned that. For me, when I really have an idea i feel like i don't need to draw that much or if the idea is good it can be executed in a simple way. On the other hand if I don't have a good idea, I just keep drawing and hope that makes up for it.

haha, great philosophy ! I too draw sometimes randomly and often afterwards add an idea, a line, a character to it when working on it.

awesome!
is it hand drawn, or is screenprinted or digital? i can't tell
but it doesn't matter too much, it's still awesome even if it's painted or screenprinted or vector or hand made...

Thanks! I taped two peices of paper together longways and drew the whole thing with pen and brush marker. Then scanned each page and pieced them together in photoshop, made color separations in illustrator. I want to do a silk-screen print of it but will probably have to narrow it down to three or four colors.

Absolutely stunning piece! The composition is amazing. I love it when people can fit together so many different shapes and colors without making any area feel out of balance. The colors are textures add so much interest to this! I especially love the detail in the rooftops!
