Description
A Muppet parody of those VH1 and E! specials detailing the rise and fall of bands, this time focusing on a villains from Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. There's also some subtle commentary about the new Kermit-free DVD release of Emmet Otter.Related content

I have the original cut of this on VHS. It's my favorite Christmas movie of all and the Riverbottom Gang are some of the best villains.

Oh God! I remember these guys from when they had an hour of Jim Henson crap on Nick at around noontime, and it's amazing I remember this stuff considering how long ago that was. Somehow, I just knew that they weren't going to get very far after the talent show.

The newest DVD of A Christmas Toy also has it's Kermit wraparounds snipped out.
I don't understand Disney's problem. I mean, they allow the the Sesame Street people to release their Kermit material on DVD and stream Kermit clips online. And this'll probably spell problems for Muppet Family Christmas when Disney gets around to re-releasing.

Robot Chicken did a similar "Behind the Music" thing about the Electric Mayhem band, but that was a tad too mean spirited in my opinion. This is funnier. And I agree that it sucks about the DVD, although Emmet Otter was never my favorite thing the Muppets did. Seeing Kermit introduce the special just made me want to see more of him. I didn't care as much about these other characters I'd never heard of, so the fact that he's been excised entirely makes it all the worse.

It was a HUGE staple of my own childhood holiday experience as well, side by side with The Grinch, Charlie Brown Christmas and Rudolf. I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed that show as well and understood the reference in my cartoon!

I think it's criminal that Disney won't allow the Henson's to keep Kermit in this year's Emmet Otter DVD release. It's just not the same without him as a narrator.
And Frank Oz's performance of Chuck from Emmet Otter is scarier than Animal on his worst day!

Disney bought all the Muppet characters and the Muppet name from the Henson company, which essentially includes every character on the Muppet Show. The Hensons still own all the other characters, like the Fraggles, Emmet Otter, and the Labyrinth and Dark Crystal characters (not to mention a bunch of others). So the Hensons re-released Emmet on DVD this past October, but because Disney now owns Kermit, they wouldn't allow the Hensons to keep the footage of him in the Emmet DVD.
Like I said, it's a real crime, espeically to those like you and I who grew up with Kermit being a part of that wonderful special.

Disney shouldn't control Kermit, because Jim was/is Kermit and Kermit was/is Jim, just like Walt and Mickey. You think the execs would know this.
