Pete's Dragon was the first film I ever saw (the year it came out, 1977, when I was three), and it's stoof as one of my favorites ever since. Here I'm drawn Elliot the dragon being schemed upon by Doc Terminus, the movie's very cool villain.And my apologies to those to whom I told that Tank Girl or Sandman/Death would be my next cartoons. I've had this idea in mind for a month now and needed to get it down on paper.

it's one of my faves too and I was 20 when I saw it for the first time, I still love it at 55...you really do a great job capturing the essence of the characters in your work.

This movie used to give me serious nightmares when I was little. I was soo afraid of those crazy dirty people that started singing. But I do enjoy this movie immensly now!! Hahaha this makes me lol!!

Pete's Dragon still remains one of my favourite movies too. I've well worn the cassette tape it was one years ago, and it still makes my heart swell when Elliot comes roaring in to save poor little Pete.
And you drew him so wonderfully here, as always your style is amazing.

In an amazing coincidence, I was just thinking of Pete's Dragon, and I've barely thought about this movie in years. Actually, ~bluesonnet 's recent pic is what most likely brought it back into my consciousness, but I was just thinking about movies where the opening credits seemed to go on for forever. I used to get confused as a kid and think that the dragon's name was Pete. Anyway, very cool pic. It inspired me to look up the movie on the imdb, and I just realized I saw the guy who plays Doc Terminus on TV recently, talking about how he does the narration in the Harry Potter audiobooks.

I loved this movie as a kid! Especially Doc and his goofy sidekick (played by Red Buttons), when they first arrived in Pasamaquody(?), trying to sell his quack remedies and cure-alls. ^_^
Though if you're going to do this, you should have included the Goggins -- the family of sloths and miscreants that tried to take back Pete. They made more trouble than Doc ever did. ^_^

Ah great film that one. I love it when they get blind drunk and confront Elliot in his cave. And to think i drew him the other day too.
