By day, Jaslyn Lee is a woman striving to make a name of herself at a New York based web comic artist company. Next door and sharing studio space with one of Oscorp's research facilities, Jaslyn spends most of her time at the office creating artwork and helping other storytellers get their comics published or spending time with her besties, Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker, whom she has known since college.

One night, while burning the midnight oil on a few comic pages she had to finish to make a deadline, Jaslyn hears strange sounds coming from next door. Thinking someone might be in trouble, she goes to investigate. Unknown to her, a mysterious figure has been running secret tests in the labs and something seems to have gone wrong. While checking up on the noise, Jaslyn has been spied by the mysterious figure and weirded out, she attempts to run. But on her way out, she trips over an experiment in the lab, releasing a very large and experimented on radioactive spider.

She manages to escape the lab and the shadowy figure, before booking it straight home.
Once home, she lets out a yell as she feels a bit on her hand, shaking it as the spider that bit her, falls to the floor dead. Its piercing teal body seems to illuminate a bit before fading off as it dies.

Next morning, Jaslyn wakes up to find things have changed.
SHE has changed.

She finds she can walk up walls and stick to any surface. Her senses are heightened. She has intense night vision. Her agility has skyrocketed. She can illuminate her skin and eyes with a teal white light with just the thought of her mind.

Keeping it a secret, she finds she can do more with her new gifts.
In time, she becomes a night time vigilante, whom the papers had deemed ... Night Spider aka Night for short.

In her work life, she herself makes up an origin story and starts a web comic featuring the female web-slinger of New York. Her boss finds it will put their web comic site on the map, and puts her head of all comics relating to the mask vigilante. Her work life seems to be taking a new turn.

But she keeps her identity a secret as new powers seem to manifest over time.
She still needs to find out what Oscorp has been up to and who was that mysterious figure in the lab that night ...
