All his life, science played a role. It wasn't an assumption but rather a fact because once a mad scientist raises you; science played a logical explanation for everything.

His striking crimson eyes are focused on the tube that is placed directly in front of him. It contains a bubbly liquid that he can’t help but wonder about what may occur if it were to spill. That thought is pushed away once the classroom doors swung open with a loud bang to accompany it.
“Good morning, Bubbles. I hope you’ll be quicker to class next time.” The teacher says as she then motions the teen to hurry to a chair.
The blond haired female bows in an apologetic manner as she places a paper onto the teachers desk and scans the aisles for an open seat. Her eyes flicker to the seat next to Brick’s and she gives a smile all while placing her books down.
“Good morning.” Bubbles whispers to the boy.
“Didn’t think a Utonium could ever be late.” Brick teases softly.
“Well, I have your brother to thank.” She replies.
The school hallway has always been a hassle to travel through. The Jojo brothers have all come to this conclusion since the beginning of their freshman year three years ago. What a maze.
But it was a gift whenever someone planned to skip class or come late to class; the excuse went, ‘I got lost in the hallway’. Although the teachers didn't believe it, the day that principal mayor was found in the basement, the excuse was something of use.
A year back, Brick remembers the day he really did get lost. That day he stumbled upon his own brother and the youngest of the Utonium household whispering things to each other in a rather gentle manner, he expected it from Bubbles but not from Butch.
He uttered nothing of that event because he found himself in the boy’s locker room feeling a sense of betrayal and heartbreak.
“Hey guys!” Bubbles chirps as she skips happily towards their lunch table. “Buttercup, you forgot your lunch when you left for football this morning so I took it with me.”
“Ah, Bubbles. You are truly a goddess.” Buttercup cried out as she wrapped her sister into a hug who only giggled in response.
“Brick, hey, I made you lunch today.” Blossom pinches the male’s cheek while trying to get his attention.
“Ah, yeah. Sounds great.” Brick responded, averting his attention from Bubbles to his girlfriend.
His false feelings of love towards the eldest Utonium daughter makes himself feel disgusted. He doesn't think that someone should go through the pain of being a rebound. They started dating after he caught sight of Bubbles and Butch together. Thinking about it makes his insides coil.
A snort comes from his younger brothers seat and he looks over. Boomer rolls his eyes at Blossom and Brick because he is aware of the feelings that are constructed simply for Bubbles. “Hey, stop being so lovesick around me and Buttercup, who are singles. Am I right?”
“That’s where you are wrong. I am dating Mitch and this wonderful sandwich which my baby sister made!” Buttercup quickly shuts down Boomer who cries at now being the only single around.
“Wow, someone is dating the macho girl,” A familiar voice appears. “They must have balls.”
At this time, Brick steals a look at Bubbles whose eyes go bright with excitement and everything goes slowly onwards as she tackles Butch into a hug and a huge grin appears on his face.
“Huh, you wanna go Butch?” Buttercup groans out, readying her fist.
“Nah, but I’ll be taking my girlfriend.” Butch mocks a facade of horror as he scoops up his lover and runs out the cafeteria doors.
“You know, I wouldn't mind if Butch ended up as our brother in law.” Blossom brings up suddenly, leading to Brick feeling a pang of despair once Buttercup agrees.
Back in freshman year, Brick remembers when Bubbles stood in front of the gymnasium doors. She was wearing a cheerleading outfit but she lacked her usual excitement. That was when he decided to approach the younger girl who yelped once he touched her shoulder.
“Dear god, Brick!” She exclaimed in a worried tone. “I don’t think I can do this, but, oh! I really want to.”
“Calm down, Bubbles. What’s wrong?”
“Brick, I really want to be a cheerleader and they have a spot open. One!”
“Bubbles.”
“What if they don’t like me? Oh, this is useless…”
“Bubbles, you’re amazing. They’ll love you because I d—I think you’re great at cheerleading.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, you’ll make em drop dead.”
“Thanks Brick! I’ll be back soon!”
She made the team. Brick was aware of this because he was there to witness when the head cheerleader screamed in excitement about how someone that was full of talent had been among their freshman crew to begin with. And he was there when Bubbles tackled him to the floor and left a kiss on his cheek.
Brick and his brothers had been leaving the campus and heading home when Butch decided that he wanted to head over to a new shop that had opened up. Unwilling to go, Brick had told Boomer to accompany Butch who sniggered at Boomer’s disappointment.
He recalls when Bubbles and Butch had taken a break. Butch had said he wanted a break in the spur of the moment because he felt that he was a major distraction to his girlfriends relationship with her friends.
Rather, them taking a break broke Bubbles down even quicker.
He knew this because the entire cheerleading squad had cornered Butch one day and they had taken Buttercup with them who punched the boy in the face and demanded that he get back with her sister because not only was she in a pit but so was Butch.
Butch and Bubbles got back together an hour later, when he showed up at her house holding flowers and calling her down.
They couldn't live without each other.
When Butch and Boomer arrived back home, Brick was watching a movie and Boomer adored the movie of choice, so he made popcorn. But Butch headed to his room and locked the door.
When Boomer was sure that the rowdy male was out of sight, he said five words that captured Bricks attention.
“He finally brought a ring.”
He remembers when her name got called during graduation and Butch followed suit, stealing the microphone from the principal and exclaiming that her name was called far too late.
A teacher showed him the name list and he shook his head. “Her last name shouldn't be Utonium anymore but rather Jojo.” And with that, he got on his knee and took out the ring.
The cheers and whistles were deafening. In defeat Brick let out a sob which wasn't missed.
Today Brick was visiting his brother Boomer for his 26th birthday. But he prepared two gifts. Because not only was it Boomer’s birthday but it was Bubble’s too. The moment he arrived, he was greeted in smiles and with a beer.
He would need it of course. But not too much. This was because he didn't want to see his nephews for the first time in a drunken haze and his first love shouldn't see him in such a way.
“Happy birthday, blues.”
The striking blue eyes of his first love were just as beautiful as the first time they met.
