Description Note: FOR ENTERTAINMENT. NOT TO BE TAKEN TOO SERIOUSLY.

There are other ("real") ways to draw tesseracts, but this animation was inspired by the first time I looked at a 2D representation, and it blew my mind.

*snicker*

Literally.

Thank you for making this. I've been wondering how to make a cube like that lol.

The image of a cube in a cube that we see a lot is like a 3d shadow. Which is pretty trippy

i think it's possible to draw a tesseract, but not on a paper

Cool, how would someone draw a tesseract that way?

It would be a two dimensional representation of the three dimensional shadow of a tesseract.

It's a cool little tutorial, not very helpful, but it's a nice work of art. Somehow, it makes me wonder about the dimensions in our universe.. 2d, 3d, and 4d... Nice work.

Heh, thanks.
The funkiest thing is, I think, we could REALLY draw a tesseract/hypercube if we could see the fourth dimension. I mean, that's the only reason why we can draw and understand drawings of cubes. I wonder: there's already so much in a 3D world. What would we see in a 4D world?

The 4th dimension is time. We live in the 4th dimension. Basically, a box in real life would have a length + breath (2d), a depth (3d) and time (4d). So it's not just 3 dimensions, it's 4 dimensions.

Actually, time (Actually "Time") is the fourth perceptive dimension. The tesseract exists in the fourth spacial dimension. Try to imagine an axis that is perpendicular to the X, Y, and Z axes at the same time. This is the W axis on which the tesseract exists. It's impossible to visualize such an axis because we can only see three dimensions, and therefore can only see the three dimensional shadow of a four dimensional object.

Well, technically, don't we see in two dimensions? Yes, an object in space has three dimensions, but our eyes see only one plane of that object. Kinda like in Flatland by Edwin Abbott.

Sorry for being so incredibly late on this, but yes, I suppose you're right.

Yeah.. It just boggles my mind that, well, mathematically, lines are made from infinite points, planes are made from infinite lines, and 3D objects are made from infinite planes. A tesseract is made of infinite 3D objects then?

Keyblade-Spirit In reply to jazzeria [2009-10-31 15:26:22 +0000 UTC]

Well, 3D objects aren't really made up of infinite planes, just many planes. 3D space is. So, you are partially correct about the tesseract in that it is made up of 3D objects, but not infinitely. 4D space, however, is. Hope this helped. Also see my comment above.
