Description This one I did today. I scraped my nails on the little rings because I have only one plier... But I'm quite proud of it! It looks royal
It was my first attempt at doing chainmaille, but I think it turned out ok. I think that technique is called 1-4 but I'm not sure. I used this amazing tutorial on Youtube as a crash course...: [link]

You have a good eye for composition and color, get yourself another pair of pliers and keep linking!

First attempt?! that is amazing..... I really love how it comes to a point. so elegant!

I usually call it european 4 in 1, but people will understand what you are talking about

Thanks! I must say I was amazed myself by the result... It took me around 6 hours to complete the chain mail though
Thanks for the info! Whats an 8 in 1? I don't really understand how it's possible?

I can tell you put a lot of time into it... it shows.
You will get faster with practice, and you can find all sorts of tricks to weaving.

Did you mean 4 in 1?.... # in 1 just means taht there are # rings passing through one ring (if you look closely at your work this might make more sense)

you might have found these already, but may I suggest two websites I love:
[link] has tutorials and the like
[link] has everything you would ever need to buy.

if you have other questions feel free to ask!

Thanks a lot for your comment And yes, that's what I meant. To begin the maille I had to pass 4 closed rings in one open one, than on open in the top two, than two closed rings etc...
Thanks a lot for the sites, I'll be sure to check them out

Thanks for your help

There's a lot more than just 4 or 8-in-one... [link]

Scroll to about the middle of the page to see their __-in-one (or two) weaves. Eight in one is just called eight in one while eight in two is known as Kingsmaille.

This isn't your first attempt at jewllery is it? Not bad for first maille attempt. 4-in-1 is pretty much the starter weave (I didn't start with it, but whatevs).

You need to get yourself another pair of pliers

Thanks for the info!
But yes, it was my first serious attempt at jewelry... I did some when I was 10 years old, but it was mainly lining beads on a thread.
If I continue with chainmaille, I'll get another pair, but for now, my fingers need a rest

No problem! Maille is quite fun and you can really find some complicated weaves or make your own. I've been working with it for just about a year now and I have barely scraped the tip of the iceberg. Cheers!

I'd love to try a "King chainmaille" but it looks hard and quite stiff... I might give it a try anyway
Thanks a lot for the help
