Okay, this brings back some memories! Not of the episode in question, but they did a one time marathon on April 15th on Comedy Central called "Death and Taxes" many moons ago and the commercials were done in this style! Thank you so much for reminding me!
And isn't it amazing how we can remember so many little details about that damned cheap set!

They had one of those "Death and Taxes" promos on the MST Scrapbook tape, and indeed, I love it - Trace Beaulieu and Kevin Murphy's fake Swedish is hilarious.
Truth be told, I used a reference for the Satellite of Love here - I freeze-framed that host segment from 518 "The Atomic Brain" where Magic Voice talks to the movie's narrator and the only visual is a wide shot of the SOL bridge. It is fun to pick out all the stuff stuck on the walls, though.
