Description One of the recurring motifs in Forever 16 is that no character is 100% perfect. But the characters with the least amount of redeeming qualities are undoubtedly the Duquesne family. Case in point: this July 18, 1999 strip, in which Brad's fatherly ineptitude is in full force. Throwing money at his kids is pretty much his solution to everything.

This strip could easily be in newspapers. Have you considered doing comic strips for a newspaper?

To paraphrase Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, never stick your dick in a pie. It can still be a good pie and you can spend all day trying to convince people of that, but nobody's going to eat it BECAUSE YOU STUCK YOUR DICK IN IT.

Well, at least he tried.

Thank God I'm not living in that household.

No wonder the Duquesne siblings are so messed up.

I like Mr. Duquesne. He feels(at least here) like a guy who wants to be a good dad but just doesn't know how. The kids just rub me the wrong way, though.

I've actually tried to make the entire Duquesne family the least likeable people ever. I feel like George Meyer when he found out about those pastors who show "Homer the Heretic" in bible study groups.

It's fine, I got the joke. Just ignore whoever this scary guy is. That's the problem with hyperbole; reality is sometimes so outrageous it's never enough.

But that's why satire is so therapeutic. Out of everyone in Princess Pi so far, I've been unexpectedly having the most fun writing the teen queen bee Sam, because she's everything I hate about people crammed into one character. Every time I hear about something horrible someone has done, I think "I should make Sam do that."

I'm writing one right now where she falls in love with a cannibal in prison. This is actually based on a real news story about a teen girl who made a Facebook fan page for a psycho on Death Row who cut up his victims, had sex with the pieces and filmed it all. This girl had a crush on him.

I like those characters. The parents seem really relaxed and layd back, even though the father jas problems with the talk.
If you want unlikeable characters you should go a bit more over the top: Religious fanatics or really nasty attitudes are a key element.

Between that and actually trying to impart his own wisdom, I think Mr. Duquesne made the more responsible choice.

What a great dad. He probably provided his son with the fake ID to get in, too.

Must say, Lindsay Duquesne is looking mighty fine in the second panel.
