Description
Presenting a crossover drawing for , bringing the world of her "PokΓ©mon" fanfiction crashing into the realm of "Mystery Science Theater 3000". I wasn't able to fit all of the fic's main characters in the theater seats, but I did find room for Ash, Misty, and Max (in this fic, Max has apparently "forgotten" about his sister May, so she doesn't appear). And per request, the movie on the screen is Pod People, perhaps the worst E.T. ripoff to ever come out of Czechoslovakia.Related content

What irked me about that movie was that they used completely different footage in the opening and ending.

Only my favorite MST3K episode EVER, JB! Great jobs here, as always! I really do plan to make my own MST3K myself soon. But you, you're the Dr. Forrester (i.e. evil genius)!
Oh, and slight correction: Pod people was shot in Spain! I know, I too thought it shot somewhere else, Quebec at least, since it looked like North America and the people looked Anglo, but the accents were obviously dubbed. But as it turned out, Trumpy crash landed in Spain!

No kiddin'? Well, I knew it wasn't shot in America (I could have sworn Dr. Forrester called it "a crummy Czechoslovakian ripoff" of E.T. during the 1991 Turkey Day marathon, but the Brains have been known to get this stuff wrong before). Thanks!

I think it was shot in Czechoslovakia by an American crew. All the actors probably had to learn English phonetically, which is why the movie was dubbed.
It's not the only MSTed movie to be filmed overseas by American filmmakers, either - it usually happens in Italy, and probably the most famous example is Warrior of the Lost World, an Italian production by an American director (David Worth, who was forced to start filming before the script was even written, I might add). See also Operation Double 007, Outlaw, Escape 2000, and Devil Fish, among others.

Yep - it's one of Tommy's toys in the movie. Of course, whenever I think of Simon and MST3K, I'm reminded of this comedy bit from the writers' room that appeared in the behind-the-scenes footage on the MST3K Scrapbook tape...
