Everyone's favorite superstar, Mario, didn't always have the trademark mustache he's known for; but during his time in high school, it started to grow in rather quickly. Here, he's sporting the Diamond High school uniform, once more showing his versatility when it comes to his appearance in alternate clothing. Supposedly he wears the blazer unbuttoned as it's "the hip trend for guys my age!", but in truth, he does so because otherwise it makes him look chubbier...

"Heh heh, what's up? It's-a me, Mario! I don't mean to brag or anything, but I'm-a pretty strong y'know! If anyone tries to bully you or your friends, let me know; I'll set 'em straight!"

"So, have you noticed I've-a gotten a little taller since I was a kid? And my mustache is growing in too! I bet I'll become as tall as a basketball player once I hit 20, tops! I already jump as good as they do, if not better; only makes-a sense, right?!" (he has reached his full height by this point)

"It's weird... Ai seems to be getting a little nervous around me lately. She was like super-talkative and touchy when we were in junior high... Well, she doesn't act different from before with everyone else; but when Ai talks to me, she becomes... Kinda timid, I guess? And her face gets all red and sweaty. But she still hangs out with me all the time. Maybe it's just a girl thing?"

And there you have it folks; my interpretation of Mario during his teenage years! If you're curious, he's 16 years old here. Basically, it's how Mario will look in the second half of Chapter 0 of Super Mario JBX, so look forward to artwork for teenage versions of Luigi, Airashi, and most the others! Actually, I still need to draw the kid versions for a lot of the cast too, don't I? In due time, everyone... At any rate, as always, I hope you enjoy this picture!
