It's Peppermint Fizz and her pet, Cola Chameleon, from the new Strawberry Shortcake animated series! She's one of my faves 'coz she seems to be the only badass character in the show so far, similar to Angelica from the Rugrats!
Notice anything? That's right, it's traditional art for a change! This was done during the time that my PC broke down and I was away from dA for a few days. I may have been feeling down, but it seems nothing can tear me away from my art! I sketched this, then I just had to color it. So I got out my seldom-used box of coloring pencils and finished off the deviation!
Hmm, okay, so I don't exactly suck at traditional. But maybe next time I'd better make the colors a little richer. This looks kinda light and powdery.

Peppermint Fizz is a character in our fan series "Life With Girls", but she's given a different appearance and her name is changed to Peyton Jensen.

There was another sort of anti-hero type character Raspberry Torte/Tart, but she was less bratty although she had a lackie in Lemon Meringue. I think Limelight/Lime Chiffon had a sassy persona too, though they also had more sassy characters in Rainbow Sherbet and Angel towards the end ironically.

I know berry little about Peppermint Fizz since I can't get my hands in the DVD she appears... Know she's sort of bratty but not a villain; she just appears to need some "berryness"

Well, yeah. I guess she's not really a villain because though she starts out bratty and a troublemaker, she always makes a resolution in the end.
Hope you do manage to get a hold of one of her episodes! I think she's appeared in three DVDs already.

Yes I was doing some research about Peppermint Fizz, and I'm willing to get those DVD's for knowing more about her (apparently she's named "Mentita" in my country).

That reminds me, do you happen to know their alternate names? This is what I know so far from reading the subtitles:
Strawberry - Rosita Fresita
Huck - Juanito
Angel - Angela Pastel
Orange - Flor.. I forgot
Custard - Flancita
Pupcake - Mofin
I don't know the names of the others like Ginger, Honey Pie, Blueberry and Coco.

OK, those are the names of characters in latin american spanish (of course, from the new SSC series):
Strawberry Shortcake = Rosita Fresita
Huckleberry Pie = Hucleberry or just Huck
Ginger Snap = Ginger
Orange Blossom = Naranjita
Angel Cake = Dulce Angelito
Blueberry Muffin = Dorita Morita
Coco Calypso = ? (I don't know about this one)
Rainbow Sherbet = ? (Neither this one)
Peppermint Fizz = Mentita
Apple Dumplin = Manzanita
Custard = Flancita
Pupcake = Muffin
Honey Pie Pony = Honey Pony
Name of vintage SSC characters are in some cases different, but I'm only listing the current lineup of characters

Ah, so it must've been a different Spanish version that I was watching then. Looks like the only ones who retained their names in both versions were Strawberry, Custard, Pupcake and Blueberry (I forgot that I already watched Blue introduce herself as Dorita Morita, with Cheesecake/Quesito)! I like the texture on it; it just adds to the feel. But yes, brighter colours would help... still, the colouring is pretty nice. And the drawing is great, good pose and everything! Sorry, I cannot do a full crit tonight

Making it sugary sweet was easy, actually. After watching several episodes of SSC, I've never found a hint of salty foods anywhere! Everything in the series is either sweet or sweet-and-sour, much like Wonka's fantasy candyland!
I don't know about making it brighter, but what I think would make it look better is a more solid coloring job. Or maybe it just seems to me that way 'coz I'm used to how solid the colors in CG works look. And yes, maybe I tend to overuse drop shadows. It's just that it makes a lot of things look so spiffy!

Hmm. Actually, I tend to draw more fanart than original art nowadays. The only original characters I draw most at the moment are the Critters like Niho, and some semi-original characters like Twirlie and Mandy, whom I have created my own versions of!

I guess, but it wasn't really my idea. Peppermint's eyes really are green. I kept every detail here as accurate as I can, pausing the DVD episodes she's in for reference!

Yeah.. But I think the peppermint really ought to look shiny instead of powdery. I'd better practice with colored pencils a bit more.
