The original 6,000HP 265H engine had some bugs to be worked out and it still isn't perfected so that the SD90/43MAC (4300HP) units are potentially convertible to 6000HP at some point, but railroads would rather run multiple lesser HP units like SD70Ms or DASH9s, etc in case a unit has mechanical issues, then you have a backup. There was an interesting article about this in the new "Trains". BTW I took a cool roster shot of a UP SD90/43MAC today at Proviso!
