Story

Ada couldn't have been more excited. She had her armour for the jousting competition and she couldn't wait to try it all on to make sure it would fit her and Ranna. Looking at her watch, she realised it was getting into late afternoon and she didn't know it she'd have time that night to practice - but she was going to try anyway. She whizzed around the barn that night as fast as she could to get all the other horses fed, watered and groomed if they needed it. Nobody had replied to her ad yet, so she was running a bit of a one woman show at the moment. It was almost sunset by the time she had finished, but she was determined that she would get this armour on today. She went to Ranna's stable and put a headcollar on, tying her up in the yard so she could tack her up. She got a quick brush down, and Ada fumbled about with some of the straps she was less familiar with, but eventually, she got there, and she stood back to look at her handiwork.
"Well, doesn't someone look like a dashing steed?" Ranna arched her head and snorted in agreement.
"Okay girl, you wait here, and I'll go get myself tacked up."
When Ada came back, she was decked out in armour that matched Ranna's.
"Aren't we a pretty pair?" Ada giggled when Ranna nuzzled her gently.
"Alright then, let's get out into the paddock." As the centre's training grounds were still under construction, the only place that was any good for practice was the paddock
At first, both Ranna and she felt a little... clunky. Everything felt heavier than it should be, but eventually, as they got used to it, Ada put the mare through her paces, starting at a brisk walk, moving onto a trot, and they even managed a couple of steps of canter before it got dark. Ada dismounted and patted the mare on the neck.
"Good lass. Let's get you cleaned up and put to bed. Tomorrow we'll try it with the lance."
