I like how the opening on the opposite end doesn't seem to be quite centered. It makes the image extremely interesting, in my opinion.

Hmm yeah I guess the angle helps you see that the pipes corrugations actually make a spiral rather than just a series of concentric circles. As noted above this is rotated 180 degrees from its original orientation; the stripe at the top of the tube is water stain from the flow. And of course the color's inverted.

Whether I was really trying to get that angle at the time or not I don't recall since this shot is over three years old.

Thanks for your comment!

Sorry for the double post but you can't edit your replies on here and I forgot to mention my idea for this piece, which was basically that spirals occur in a lot of places (as do most geometric and mathematical structures, emotions, physical principles, social systems, etc.)

Like the Golden Spiral, a gun barrel, or the way an electrically charged particle moves in a uniform magnetic field if it has some initial velocity along one axis parallel to the field and one (but for this simple case, not two) axis perpendicular to the field: [link]

Thanks!

This is just a shot down one of the corrugated steel drainage pipes that runs parallel to the street since our neighborhood is on a somewhat-steep hill. It's been rotated 180 degrees and the color is inverted.

You can see the stain left by the water flow at the top of the image.
