Description CT-7567, Clone Captain Rex of the 501st Legion. Commanding clone officer of the 501st Legion under the command of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano, and later Luke Skywalker. Promoted to the rank of Senior Commander, prior to the Siege of Mandalore; again promoted after the Rescue Mission on Mustafar, to the rank of Marshal Commander. Husband of Clone Major Kim.

CT-7567 was, like the rest of the clones, a clone trooper of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett and was raised and trained to be loyal to the Jedi, who would lead him into battle. Like many of his clone brothers, CT-7567 was grown on the rainy planet of Kamino. CT-7567 would, at some point, take on the nickname “Rex” rather than going by the clone number given to him by the Kaminoans, a practice many clones had taken on via encouragement from Jango himself. As Rex went through his training, he joined a training squad with four other clones, who would not only go on to be put into the ARC trooper program like him but also command clone legions and battalions of their own: CT-2224 Cody, CT-4242 Osiris, CT-1212 Duke, and CT-1010 Fox.

After proving himself in the standard training program, Rex and his batchmates would transfer to the ARC trooper program, thus keeping them from being deployed to Geonosis and missing the start of the war. Trained directly underneath Jango, Rex would develop a sense of honor and an idea of how clones should behave when doing what was right and following orders. As time passed, Rex would find himself being trained underneath the ARC trooper Alpha-17, better known as Alpha, and learning to serve as a commanding officer. With the new lessons that Rex was receiving, as well as the different styles of training from both Jango and Alpha, Rex developed a personality of honor and choosing right from wrong while also making the lives of his men the priority.

In the final leg of his training, Rex noticed that a fellow cadet had fallen into a flooded chamber and quickly clambered into the room to save the clone. While Rex put his life in danger to help the clone cadet, the chamber was filling fast with water from the Kaminoan rain, but in the end, he managed to get the cadet out of the room before it completely flooded with water. However, while he was unaware of it, Rex's actions were witnessed by Alpha, Jango, and Zarina Fett, Jango's adopted daughter. Upon his graduation, Rex received ARC Trooper armor. However, because he chose to be a field command officer, Rex instead decided to wear standard clone armor but equipped his helmet with a rangefinder, as well as equipping a pauldron and Kama to his armor. As he received his helmet, Rex's helmet adorned the distinguished Jaig Eyes, and he learned that this was being rewarded to him for saving the cadet from the water tank, and he proudly continued to wear these markings in honor.

After leaving Kamino, Rex was given the rank of captain and assigned to the 501st Legion under the command of newly promoted Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer Cruiser Flagship Resolute. Quickly earning the admiration of his Jedi General, Rex was made the commanding officer of the 501st underneath Skywalker and took to his role with determination and resolution. As the commanding officer of the 501st, Rex decided to surround himself with several clones he trusted. These clones included Sergeant Denal, who would become his trusted second-in-command; Sergeant Kano, who took on the responsibility of training new clones of the 501st Legion; and Sergeant Boomer, whom Rex gave command of the 501st ARF troopers. The ring of officers would eventually grow to include Sergeant Bow, who, at Denal’s insistence, became Rex’s equally trusted third-in-command, and would further grow with the inclusion of three more clones named Jesse, Hardcase, Kix, and many other clones.

As the Clone Wars continued, Rex continued to serve by Skywalker’s side, fighting alongside other clone units and their Jedi leaders, such as the 212th Attack Battalion of Clone Commander Cody and Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi, the 424th Legion of Clone Commander Osiris, and Jedi General Siri Kenobi, the 12th Legion of Clone Commander Duke and Jedi General Qui-Gon Jinn, the 82nd Attack Battalion of ARC Commander Arthur and Jedi General Katelyn Kenobi, and the 101st Legion of ARC Commander Zeus and Jedi General Rhydon Kenobi. As he served alongside many clone officers, he would come to form lifelong bonds of friendships and brotherhoods with them. Like many of his fellow clone officers, he took the safety of any clone under his command seriously, and for any clone who lost his life under Rex's leadership, he took it as a personal failure.

Because of his co-leadership of the 501st Legion with Anakin Skywalker and eventually Anakin's new apprentice Ahsoka Tano, Rex took and turned the 501st into one of the most respected and top-notched clone legions, only to be rivaled by the 101st Legion. However, this was simply nothing more than a friendly rivalry, as both Rex and Zeus used it to encourage their respective legions to continue improving and get better as combat units. The two clones enjoyed pushing their troops to the best of their abilities and seeing them go far and above to prove their worth as the best in the Clone Army.

Rex developed a strong bond of friendship with several of his fellow clone officers, specifically Commanders Cody, Duke, Osiris, Zeus, and Arthur. He would fight in many battles, such as the Battle of Christophsis (where he would meet Ahsoka Tano), the Second Battle of Geonosis, the Battle of Saleucami (where Rex was injured and treated by a clone deserter), the Third Battle of Kamino, Battle of Umbara, and many others. Through each mission, Rex's loyalty to the Republic was not as strong as his loyalty to his Jedi general and commander because Rex possessed a deep respect for Anakin and Ahsoka. After all, Anakin viewed himself as no different from any clone, and Ahsoka adopted this belief. Anakin and Ahsoka also had a high value for the lives of the clones in the 501st Legion or any clone that fell under their command, earning them the respect, trust, and loyalty of Captain Rex and every other clone trooper. The one time that Rex found his dedication to the Jedi in question was during the Battle of Umbara (where seven clones of the 101st Legion, four of which were ARCs, were assigned to the 501st on liaison) when Jedi Master and General Pong Krell temporarily replaced Anakin, and unlike Anakin, Krell who didn't value the lives of the clones.

After Krell made it clear that he did not value nor care about the lives of the clones under his command, Rex struggled to find a balance between following orders and keeping his men safe and alive. Many of his troops were divided over the change in command, with clone trooper Jesse calling Krell out for his lack of respect for the clones against clone Sergeant Vill and clone trooper Dogma, who respected and defended Krell. After the 501st captured an Umbaran airbase and a Separatist supply ship was firing missiles down to the planet's surface, Rex was becoming increasingly disillusioned with Krell. After a group of five clones (ARC Trooper Five, clone troopers Cutup, Droidbait of the 101st, and Jesse and Hardcase of the 501st) defied orders to use Umbaran starfighters to destroy the supply ship. Krell ordered them to be executed; Rex knew it was wrong and stood by the men who refused to kill their brothers but had no choice but to go through with the execution order, bringing the six clones before a firing squad. When the firing squad refused to go through with the order, following a brave speech by Fives, Rex stood by them for their decision to spare the five clones for performing a heroic act.

Following the failed execution, Krell sent Rex and his troops to engage a unit of Umbaran soldiers disguised as clones from the 212th Attack Battalions. However, in the middle of the skirmish, Rex ventured to the body of a 212th armored soldier, only to discover that it was a clone underneath the armor, leading him to realize that his men were firing on their fellow clones and immediately stopped it. After speaking with Boil and Waxer of the 212th, Rex discovered that they were sent to their location by General Krell, who claimed that the Umbarans had taken the airbase back and were going to use 501st clone armor to sneak behind Republic lines and attack the 212th clones. After Rex realized that Krell had committed an act of treason, he gathered the surviving clones from the 212th platoon and every clone from the 501st, as well as freed the six clones in the airbase brig and began to move against Krell, planning to arrest him. The attempt to capture Krell, however, didn't go to plan, as the four-armed Besalisk Jedi managed to escape into the jungle.

After chasing Krell and capturing him before throwing him into the airbase brig, Rex would lead a mixed team of clones to Krell’s cell. The group comprised Rex himself, Denal, Jesse, Hardcase, Tup, Kix, Dogma, and Domino Squad. The group of clones gathered outside Krell’s cell as Rex pulled out one of his DC-17 pistols, aiming at Krell’s back to execute the traitorous Jedi. However, Rex couldn’t bring himself to pull the trigger, so when a blaster bolt struck Krell in the back, Rex turned to see Dogma holding one of Fives’ pistols, revealing him to be the shooter. By this point, Rex had noted that Dogma’s earlier loyalty to Krell had slowly been weakening, and now it was entirely gone with the truth of Pong Krell’s treason.

Despite the betrayal of Pong Krell, Rex continued to be loyal to the Jedi, only he now reserved that loyalty strictly for Jedi who valued the lives of clones, such as Anakin, Ahsoka, Qui-Gon Jinn, and the Kenobi family, to name a few. Rex’s dedication to the Jedi proved to be true when Ahsoka, Zayla Secura, and Barriss Offee would falsely be accused of bombing the Jedi Temple. Regardless of the charges against the three, Rex knew from experience fighting alongside them in the field in numerous campaigns that they would never bomb the Temple and defended them from anyone who spoke out against the three Jedi padawans. To Rex’s delight, the three Jedi were cleared of all charges and was present when Ahsoka and Barriss became Jedi Knights, while Zayla chose to remain as a padawan for a while longer.

Following Ahsoka’s elevation to Jedi Knight, Rex personally made a new company of clones for Ahsoka as a sort of graduation gift: the 332nd Company. Although the clones of the 332nd still used standard 501st body armor colors, their significant change was the use of dark orange and Ahsoka’s facial markings on their helmets. Rex continued fighting by Anakin’s side throughout the remainder of the Clone Wars, from battles such as Ringo Vinda, Scipio, Anaxes (where Rex met and befriended Clone Task Force 99, aka the Bad Batch), and Yerbana, to name a few, up until the Siege of Mandalore. Ahsoka, who occasionally left to interact with Republic citizens to help maintain the people’s trust in the Jedi, had accidentally gotten into a slight misadventure with two young women known as Trace and Rafa Martez. In doing so, she discovered that Darth Maul was currently on Mandalore. Rex was present as Ahsoka, along with Duchess Satine and Bo-Katan Kryze, Jedi Generals Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan, Rhydon, and Katelyn Kenobi, Jedi Commander Zayla Secura as they discussed the potential battle plan for the assault against Maul’s forces on Mandalore.

However, that would change when word of the Separatist attack on Coruscant came through, forcing the Jedi to reconsider their plans. So Skywalker suggested sending the 332nd to Mandalore with Ahsoka and Rex, along with half of the 101st Legion under Zayla’s command. Rex and the others agree with Analin’s plan; however, Rex would find himself surprised when Skywalker also decides to promote Rex to Regimental Commander to help lead the fight better. Rex accepted his new promotion and left with Ahsoka, Zayla, the 332nd, 101st, and the Mandalorian Loyalists for the planet Mandalore. As they left for Mandalore, Rex left newly promoted Major Bow in temporary command of the main 501st Legion with Anakin, while Rex took the majority of the 501st Inner Circle with him to Mandalore: Vaughn (who elevated to Captain in place of Rex following his promotion to Commander), Sergeants Denal, Kano, and Boomer, newly promoted ARC troopers Jesse (who was now an ARC Lieutenant), Hardcase, Kix, Special Operations Captain Chatter and Lieutenant Hamm, Commando Captain Yeager of Onyx Squad, ARC Captains Price and Soap of Clone Task Force 141, ARC Lieutenant Ratchet, Sergeant Dempsey of the 115th Ranger Squad, ARC Commander Carolina of Clone Task Force 57, ARC Lieutenant Joakim, Clone Scout Trooper Ghost, Dogma and Tup (both of whom were made ARC troopers following the Battle of Anaxes), ARC Commander Shepard of the N7 Battalion, ARC Commander Checkmate of the 501st Inferno Squad, ARC Trooper Ironhide, and ARC Trooper Ryder.

Throughout the Siege of Mandalore, Rex fought against the enemy forces and led his brothers in the battle bravely. Never letting up, Rex would engage with the Mandalorian warrior Gar Saxon in close-quarters combat, and while Saxon was an exceptional combatant, Rex would, in the end, come out on top as the victor. Following the end of the siege and the successful capture of Darth Maul, Rex and the 332nd would go with Ahsoka to escort the Zabrak Sith back to Coruscant onboard the Venator Cruiser Tribunal while the 101st Legion remained behind on Mandalore. However, it would be during the trip through Hyperspace that Order 66 was executed.

Regardless, however, Rex refused to obey the order and rallied with other clones who remained loyal to Ahsoka and the Jedi Order; Rex led the fight to survive and escape from the Tribunal, which was severely damaged from the fighting. Rex, Ahsoka, and the other clones would learn that the Tribunal was caught in the gravitational pull of a moon and was on a crash course with the moon’s surface. Unable to escape from the Tribunal due to Maul taking the only Nu-class Shuttle in the ship’s main hangar bay, Rex and his brothers prepare to die with honor while defending Ahsoka from the hostile clones following Order 66. However, to Rex’s surprise, gunships and shuttles filled with female clone troopers speed into the Tribunal’s hangar to rescue Ahsoka, Rex, and the rest of the 332nd from the imperialist clones.

Although Rex was initially unsure what to think about the female clones, he ordered his remaining troopers to get aboard the gunships and shuttles, allowing them to escape from the Tribunal in time before it crashed. Despite the initial orders for all Jedi and clone survivors of Order 66 to rendezvous at Dagobah, Rex, Ahsoka, and the 332nd survivors would still take the time to bury their brothers who died on the Tribunal respectfully. During the burial process, Rex met Female Clone Lieutenant Kim and grew to respect her, going so far as to induct her into the 501st Inner Circle. Following the burial, Rex and the others would make their way to Dagobah to rendezvous with the remaining Order 66 survivors. However, their trip would be interrupted when word of Padme Amidala’s capture and Anakin and Obi-Wan going to Mustafar reached them.

Choosing to change their plans, Rex and Ahsoka would instead go to Mustafar to reinforce Anakin and Obi-Wan in their mission to rescue Padme. Although Rex was once again forced to fight his clone brothers on Mustafar, he nonetheless focused on the mission, successfully extracting his Jedi friends and the pregnant Padme Amidala. Following the Mustafar rescue mission, Rex and the 501st would join the Exile to the secret Jedi planet of Ossus, where the Jedi Council would begin making plans to counter the newly formed Galactic Empire.

However, while the Jedi and remaining clones would take the time to restore their strength, Rex remembered the remaining clones still being forced to serve the Empire. Rex understood that these men had no choice in their actions, and with the eventual help of the Bad Batch, he would build a secret clone defection system where clones would be freed from their inhibitor chips and given a chance to join the Jedi Loyalist Forces. Eventually, Rex and his clone brothers and sisters would be given the all-clear from the Jedi Council to begin waging a secret war against the Galactic Empire. However, the secret war would become more well-known by the galactic public following certain events.

The events that led to the open knowledge of the secret war between the Jedi Loyalist Forces and the Galactic Empire would be the defection of Grand Admiral Thrawn and the growing Rebel Alliance. Rex would advocate for the Jedi Loyalist Forces, now renamed the Amidala Empire, to forge an alliance with the Rebels and even offered to help train the Rebel troopers to fight the Imperial Stormtroopers. Because of his willingness to advocate for the Amidala Empire and Rebel Alliance allegiance, Rex was promoted to Marshal Commander and would retain his popularity for the remainder of the Galactic Civil War.
