This is much more impressive then it looks at first. Every bit of it (including the ocean) is from satellite photos of the actual Earth. Except for the 4 symbols on the sides (Water, Earth, Fire, Air).

This is the world shown in the TV show "Avatar: The Last Airbender".

I started this image months ago, and have worked on it probably just a couple hours a month, but if you add up that it took over 10 hours to do it. So, this is completely unrelated to the movie that just came out.

It all started when I was looking at a satellite map of the world and realized that Japan next to China and the Philippines, looked a lot like the world of Avatar, but flipped Horizontally. Then I was like, "what would the world of Avatar actually look like if it was real?"...

I took the flipped map of the world, and used it all: The ocean, the desert in China, the south and North Poles, etc... I even used my blending skills in photophop to make the great wall of china area into the great walls of Ba Sing Se.

I used a scanned in map from the show, and placed the real world sections under it, and just erased carefully. The only thing left of the orginal map is the four elements symbols.

Some Notes for Fans: Made Serpents pass thinner then on the original map, to match the episode that actually shows it. Made a lot of the fire nation with trees and green, like the third season shows (photo area of Volcanic Japan).
