The shadows are nice, but the characterization is a little vague. Regardless, excellent artwork.

This is epic. Definitely has that "Iron Man" vibe going for it, which is perfect because, in a number of ways, she *is* basically a female Iron Man. And the details... This one is worthy of my favorites. Excellent work.

I really love this! A though and badass Samus, yes please! I have featured this drawing as a Cover Photo on Facebook and linked it to this page. I hope that's OK!

Looking scary in a good way. And TOTALLY BADASSIO! The whole picture reflects enormous pressure on every inch of her body... It's like the whole suit equipment process is far from being pleasant but she's got used to it so it's not a big deal for her anymore.

Big respect fot this piece!

Awesome, with all theses clear and accurate little details.
and the idea of samus puting on her armor "Ironman style" is really good!

I love the fact that you have a drk tone to the picture. I think it stays very true to the series while showing a new aspect at the same time. Nice job!!

Incredible! I like this idea of how her suit is applied. The face, hair, and body structure is the "right stuff" for combat and a full suit too, and the amount of detail you've put into this is amazing!

If I knew you in reality I'd buy you a freakin cookie for this! Awesome fan art!Β Β

Although I know Samus activates and deactivates her suit via super sci-fi materialization of some sort, this is REALLY cool! Reminds me of a Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine or Iron Man putting on their armor, great work!

ik its not but they recently used it in iron man (the movies) and starcraft 2 and now you did it in this which... if you play the games her suit dematerializes and re-materializes and makes a nice shiny glow XD

cept it would never happen i am a pro gamer of metroid and her suit comes off and on by de-materializing and re-materializing
it even glows bright yellowish green when it comes off. -_-

X231 In reply to feralwrath [2013-10-31 21:12:59 +0000 UTC]

I know that. I'm just pointing out that I like how the image is portrayed. Plus I like how she "de" and re-materializes her suit and the uniqueness of that. Trust me, I'm also a pro gamer of Metroid and know all of which you just said here.Β

feralwrath In reply to X231 [2014-01-24 16:37:16 +0000 UTC]

ok so i looked into how samus makes her suit come off apparently she removes it by breaking the atomic bonds holding her suit together and storing the atoms in her zero suit then when she needs it all she does is release the atoms and put the bonds in place(sounds easy but only the chozo could do that)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

X231 In reply to feralwrath [2014-01-24 19:21:16 +0000 UTC]

Look, I don't really care now. I just commented on how I like the image being portrayed. If I wanted to hear or read about Metroid facts I would've done the research myself. Β I don't want to get into any arguments either, so...don't respond to this. Thanks.

Great idea to show Samus while getting her suit put on. Much more realistic than in the games.
You've done a great job on the details like the "skeleton" of the suit and the various parts of the suit, especially the left hand. Marvellous, truly marvellous

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

feralwrath In reply to SocQA [2013-10-31 16:59:26 +0000 UTC]

it is a great idea while i like it, it is nowhere near how samus takes her suit off anyone who has played the game and beaten it will know this.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SocQA In reply to feralwrath [2013-11-06 23:28:37 +0000 UTC]

You mean where she is engulfed in light and her suit disappears? This artwork shows the process far more realistic

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

feralwrath In reply to SocQA [2014-01-24 16:33:54 +0000 UTC]

true true but we are talking about a race who can make physical holograms able to kill space pirates(chozo) they made the suit so why when in real life we can make things appear and disappear by breaking atomic bonds and resembling them not realistic?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

SocQA In reply to feralwrath [2014-01-25 13:30:15 +0000 UTC]

Hm... you've got a point there... the Chozo definitely are a technologically advanced race despite turning away from technology at some time to live more in a bond with nature. But I think with "physical holograms" you mean the Chozo Ghosts, don't you? Those are real ghosts xD They and the artifacts in Metroid Prime emphasize the more spiritual and natural way the Chozo chose for themselves.
But you are right. In Samus' time (some unknown time in a galaxy far far away) such things like Samu's suit which can change according to the changes in the atomic bonds could be possible.
Stuart Hughe's artwork just shows us how Samus would "suit up" with technological means which are akin to contemporary techonology.

Custard-Surfer [2012-12-30 05:20:19 +0000 UTC]

I much prefer the suit as a physical entity, rather than a fragile force of will as it was portrayed in Other M. I think pushing the technicality of the suit in this way gives a much more interesting and believable design. Just my opinion though, but I'm a sucker for realism in concept art and I love this piece, excellent job.

Extraintelligence [2012-12-04 06:52:27 +0000 UTC]

This is fantastic and cool, even if it is a bit off-canon.
Her suit is made of semi-sentient nanobots that constantly surround her. By clearing her mind and focusing on the suit, they automatically form around her.
This is just my speculation, but I believe that the reason her suits always look a little bit different in each game is because the nanobots are constantly upgrading themselves, making slight changes in appearance to enhance function.
