Though I haven't played much Metroid, this is a pretty cool picture. I love that you even made a Star Trek reference with the name.

I think the last Metroid game I actually played was Super, so that's where I'm getting most of this. Also love me some Star Trek, maybe the crew of the Enterprise could come along and help Samus and Ridley almost talk it out instead of immediately trying to murder each other.

Awesome picture, but the arm cannon's on the wrong arm, lol. Also, this would have been even better if you used the Prime version of her suit. Other M's suit is neat and all, but it doesn't beat the modernized iconic suit from Primes 2 and 3.

Other M mainly just has the misfortune of being the first Metroid to severely divide the fanbase. When you play it with no expectations and don't think of it as Metroid, it's actually a very fun game.
There's also the fact that people say Samus was shown as weak and cite the moment where she actually proved strongest. She recovered from a full PTSD attack, brought on by seeing her worst fear that she was certain was completely destroyed when a planet blew up with his remains on it, and it took very little time for her to snap out of it entirely and fearlessly take down Ridley just as she always has, consistently shoving her arm cannon down his throat in much the same way she did in Prime 3 (though Prime 3's Meta Ridley fight is still the best Ridley fight in the series, even among the sidescrollers).
People just don't like that Samus isn't perfect is all.

No i dont have a problem with Samus's breakdown with Ridley. People are just confused about the timeline. At first i was confused too but when i found it this is actually before the Prime serie it all made sence, like you said Samus is face to face with the one who killed her entire planet when she though she killed him, that would shock even the most badass of heroes.
My problem is with everything else. The story is far too cliche with that whole Political thing that they shouldnt let Samus know about whats going on and shit. Yes the story could have been pretty good, maybe if they took this as the mission that forced Samus to leave the Federation. With a better story telling that is. What pains me the most is how Samus keeps monologing about everything that is happening, wich unlike Fusion she is not talking like a real person, hell its not a monolog shes just narrating what just happend, what we just saw, in an overly dramatic way and they dont give us a reason why Samus follows Adam so blindly. They never show what Adam did to earn Samus respect, to keep him so high and on top of that Adam is a generic military leader in every way, shape or form, and not a fun one at that.
Even if you consider this as a newbie stand point then this is a game with relatively fun gameplay turned down by a lazy and confusing story and that doesnt respect the main character or the audience (those fucking "looking" sections....), filled with bland characters and SERIOUSLY WHO THOUGH THE LOOKING AROUND SECTIONS WHERE A GOOD IDEA! MY GOD!
No matter how you look at it Other M is simply a badly constructed game with a few good ideas that couldnt save the game.

This is true. I was simply stating that people had the wrong reasons for disliking it. Samus was not one of them. She was actually done quite well if you give it half a thought. The issue was the other characters ("The CPU has self-destructed, but I can recover something." /facepalm/) as well as what you mentioned. And the view switching in general was clunky as hell. But it wasn't terrible, it's just mediocre and fairly fun for the first playthrough.
Also, it's after Super Metroid, which is after Prime. It goes Metroid/Zero Mission, Prime, Prime 2, Prime Hunters, Prime 3, Metroid 2, Metroid 3 (Super Metroid), Other M, Metroid 4 (Fusion). The Prime Trilogy is kind of stuck in between the first and second Metroid, which is a weird thing to do as the Phazon Crisis wasn't mentioned in the chronologically later games. Metroid's timeline is pretty screwed up.

Its better than Mario's timeline thats for sure.
But i have to disagree. Yes the other characters where bland but Samus takes the cake as she feels the need to repeat everything we just saw as if we wherent paying attention or something and again we where given no reason why Samus respects Adam's autority to the point of risking her life if he doesnt aprove her weaponry.

Ridley and Samus look pretty epic in this. It would be a great cutscene in a game.

I hear you there. However, this picture does show how Other M's Ridley fight should have started. If, when Samus gets a bit beat up, Anthony got concerned and then knocked off the platform when he steps in to help (all while Samus keeps telling him to get back, she's got it under control), and then this picture happens, that would have been awesome. Rather than Ridley causing some random nervous breakdown, the only real emotion he gets out of her ends up being rage instead of panic. Would have been so much more in character than what actually happened.

You mean "Run Ridley"?
Because that's exactly what Ridley does on Metroid Prime 1. Escapes the pirate base then runs from Samus, even if she's in her standard armor. He is her bounty target and what does he do instead of facing her? He ruuuns. Like a chicken who can fly.
