Huh, interesting; I thought Meta Knightmare was called Meta Knightmare because Meta Knight was the Nightmare! I mean, ignoring the final boss named Nightmare... and the fact that the game is called Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland...

I headcanon Nightmare as Meta Knight's (adoptive) father and that's why it's called Meta Knightmare. Meta is a little Nightmare. (Also they both do cape teleporting and overall wear similar outfits. And they both make the screen go dark in Smash. The resemblance is strong)

That is actually a kind of interesting head cannon. It puts Meta Knight's... sometimes inconsistent relationship with Kirby and overall role in the franchise in a new light. I like it!
