One thing though is the back part of his hair lacks the contrast and definition that the rest of the piece has. Not really a huge deal as it's not the focus of the piece, and it may just be the lightsource or something, but it's just what I noticed

I know the back of his hair looks odd...but it's because of the light source & the way the wind was blowing it around in the pic I used for reference.

I can see why you like this pic, Jen. It's because it's very very well done. Drawing human faces is hard enough, but to actually manage to draw the small details that make each face unique is pure genius.
I really like how you rew the hair and the eyes. Both are very lifelike, and very imposing. The shading is incredible, and your attention to detail just blows me away.

I always try to do the shadows, but it's not werking...

Well...I'm not really sure that I can explain how I did the shadows...basically I just fill in the shaded places with the pencil, then I use my fingers to blend the shaded places into the not-shaded places. I really hope that made sense...
