Hey, I think I know where they got the idea of making Zommari's Release form look like a jellyfish with several eyes.
It's appearance almost looks identical to a sea creature called a "watermelon sea urchin" and those white humps on it looks almost as if there like eye balls so that's probably why they made zommari's release form have so many eyeballs.
Here's a picture of it:

Oh my, those look absolutely awesome! And I do love getting inspiration from deep sea creatures since many are the strangest looking things (:

Absolutely nothing. Witchcraft reminded me of pumpkins, and his design certainly resembled a pumpkin. However, my initial pumpkin designs completely flopped so I felt that a jellyfish medusa sort of had the same shape as a pumpkin (:
As with most of my designs in this series, they are based mostly on their appearances rather than their names (with the exception of the few where the release name was already an animal).

That does make sence, but where did they get the idea of making a jellyfish/pumpkin with so many eyes to control or paralize people? It kinda makes me think of the "Thousnad Eyes Idol" or "Thound Eyes Restrict" from Yugioh.
And speaking of Medusa Jellyfish, I wonder why the jellyfishes' family is called Medusa when medusa is actually the name of a Gorgon.

I think I'm pretty much done with the Bleach-creature concept series now, I originally only planned to do the 10 espada anyways. For now, I will move on to some of my other projects.

i must say, compared to all the other hollow zommari/thingy drawings, this one was quite inventive when it comes to an actual, believable, creature

This is a great version of Brujeria as a full Hollow. I think you got most of of the important design elements down, and it definitely feels like a full creature yet also the same design we're familiar with. I think my only gripe is that it doesn't really look or feel much like a Hollow, but just a general creature. I know Hollows can differ pretty wildly sometimes, but there tends to be key design sensibilities with them that don't change, or change much, and several of them are completely gone here. It's still nice though, and looks great.

Ah, I getcha. That's different then. As for the other features, most of them are pretty abstract and I couldn't put them into words either (mostly they'd probably have to do with Tite Kubo's monster design style more than anything,) but the main other one is the simplicity of their bodies. Most Hollows have solid colors for their bodies, or minimal coloring at least, with elaborate masks as their most prominent feature. There are exceptions, definitely. It's just what I've noticed the most.
