I present to you, my first proper painting attempt! Well.. character painting attempt anyways since I used brushes like mad on the background since after spending like 25hrs on the character i was giving up on the idea of the background. Until the picarto chat voted other wise and made me continue it with a background >> -scowls at chat- ANYWAYS! so as i was saying this was my first proper digital painting attempts. I've attempted it before but the outcomes where terrible and i was still cheated using layers and being a layer junkie. Old habbits die hard. But with the help and inspiration of Elkaii , Kinnoak and dustinwilson who are all amazing painters and helped me with this I was able to not die curled up on the floor.
Now about the picture. I wanted to draw something to show Robo-ra in a none aggressive light? She had so much MORE to offer than a snarly temper and I wanted to show this some way. Since Robo Rayra is the negative emotions of myself this image is my attempt to illustrate Sadness, isolation and lonelyness and all such simialr emotions. Not inspired by anything, it's not a vent or anything like that but it's literally just inspired by showing more to her. There's more to Robo-ra than her rage haha. Originally there was no storm clouds in the picture but I felt it was too "peaceful" looking and Rayra had nothing to be worried about. BUT now she does, since Robo-ra is mechanical she runs into some.... hardware issues if it starts to rain. I've also noticed that in like ever single picture I've drawn the character is looking at the viewer.... hm... Also, omg,. drawing that Robo paw from that angle was hard man. I needed engineering help for that one haha
The character was drawn using only the default hard round brush in PS with spacing at 1% and hardness at around 80-90% mostly entirly on a single layer. The only time other layers where used was when I was unsure of something [shading the metal and adding the fur tuffs over it] but once I drew it I merged it down again and kept it to one layer.
The background was drawn using an assortment of brushes from [points to credit section below] But each asset was drawn on one layer. So the rock, grass, trees and clouds where on their own layers. I also added an additional layer to enhance the colour and create more contrast with the highlights and stuff. But that's pretty much it? I did make a speedpaint so expect that up when I can edit it down.
You might also have noticed the rather precies time at the bottom as well, that's because I used this timer that marinarts linked me to during one of their streams. It records the timer you spend in an application but when you tab out it stops and also once you become inactive after a selective amount of seconds. So that a very acurate timer and thus so is how long this took me haha

This is really, really beautiful!!!
the background is incredible and I really like how you shaded the fur and basically how you drew the character looks fantastic!
I'm also really liking the colours!
The glow in the character's 'blue ribbons' (I'm really sorry if I didn't get that right) looks very neat as well ^^
Overall this is a very beautiful drawing!
(and thank you for showing me!)

I really love the peaceful, yet foreboding, feel about the background. It really sets the image off
