This looks like an excellent assault gunboat or heavy fighter. Now all you need is a small, faster, nimbler fighter to act as a fleet interceptor.

will think of a small interceptor

Could we develop those planes like that one?

as far as a aerospace ship, maybe... the powerplants are not where it should be Yet... but in time, yeah, I don't see why not. but as far as actual fighting in space... you dont need wings in space... Babylon5's starfury's are more in line with what we could have... space fighting... is... Different... there is no up and down, just you and them... attack angles are anything you want, move too fast, and you would need to flip your axis to point your engines forward to slow you down. Its a weird mindset to wrap your head around if you really think about space fighter combat.
Building this thing with current tech as just a fighter aircraft, yeah, completely doable. Replace the guns with air inlets, put in like 2 or more jet engines, and you have a fighter jet, not unlike a Su-47 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_S…

I guess it is possible

I think the cokpit is a bit disproportionned with the main hull, where the engines are.

figure, its space... need big powerplant, and fuel to operate in such extremes... especially where dog fighting is involved. so yeah, it has a big hull... ever walk around a F14 tomcat? That is a Huge fighter...

Why the fold over wings? Why not individual hangers so the fighters can at least be on stand by at all times?

for ready aircraft, yeah the wings would of course be deployed like the picture i drew, but storage in a carrier type hanger, space is at a premium. The wings, which are mainly to place thrusters out away from the center of the hull, and to mount weapons, such as missile pylons. they are large, and folded up over the top of the hull, you can fit twice as many fighters in the ship. Look up any carrier based airframes, all of them fold up in one way or another to save space. In WW2 the british used a biplane on their ships, that was able to fold its 4 wings back en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairey_S… its a space saver manuver. You can normally unfold, and deploy the wings in minutes if not seconds. Our current Navy F-18 superhornets fold the outer edges of their wings after they land, to help fit more fighters into the hanger, and park more on the deck. there will always be ready fighters on a flight deck. But figure, carrier has 4 cats, or launch bays, you can deploy 4 units at a time... between the time needed to crew the first deployment, hanger crews have already armed and deployed the wings on a 2nd flight of fighters, and so on and so forth. So yeah, they fold, and no, you cant have all the fighters on standby all the time, you would just burn out crew and hardware that way. Individual hangers take up a ton of space, dedicated launchers that you can get craft to is better. unless your a battlestar... then you can fart all your fighters at once.. or at least like 4 wings at a time...
