I am so mad. Asphyxiation is bad enough, but DROWNING in particular is a horrible, terrifying, painful way to die. And Chaltier can't do anything but watch, and talk to him, and wait for it to end.

Gosh I'm impressed with how you drew this. Poor Chal having to watch as someone he cares dies before his very eyes and even comforting words can't ease Leon's imminent death. This hits me right in the feels. I remember reading the manga. It was tragic scene despite we don't actually see Leon drown but we know what was happening.

There is so much emotion in this it makes my heart hurt！Its so beautiful and serene, and heartrending all in one. I'm not that familiar with ToD, but this makes me want to check it out, I loved ToS so I'm sure this will be even better!

Ahhh thank you. My situation was similar- I saw a clip of Leon's end, and it got me interested in the game! Though due to the lack of translation of the Director's Cut (the complete and canon version which is more like symphonia, since the PS1 version was lacking many things and more like Tales of Phantasia), it can be hard to really play unless you know Japanese. Fortunately, there's the manga, playthrus, and a translated script.

Just...So much more feels and meaning when seeing this picture, especially after knowing that Leon goes through this right before the end of Tales of Destiny TT.TT I've just barely played the game myself on my psp, but I found out about it from reading about it, or the occasional tales of AMV that has the animation scene from when he gets left behind to drown all alone down in that cave area.
((I mean I know a lot of the Tales of Games have those characters with back-stabbing syndrome but its even more sad with feels when they die, compared to when they get kept by the group their with as a friend, etc TT.TT ))

Ah man, even of the characters who betray or die, this is definitely one of the worst deaths. Drowning is horrible. I guess he shares that distinction with Botta... Though I feel like, everyone talks about Leon's fate, but everyone seems to neglect Chaltier....

I know x.x I mean he was the only one left behind with Leon while the other swords were freed/used to destroy that dragon ship (I dont remember the name of it, but I do know its a huge dragon-like themed ship xD;; ) Also, even though he's not spoken of much, Miktran is a really good yet easily forgotten or not known of villain too TT.TT He's also the one that holds the swordian Bersilius which you dont see of much either.
I mean you only ever fight him in the remake of Destiny for the Gamecube I think it was?? And its a game North America didnt get again, so its harder for fans like myself that cant read japanese to get ahold of or even play to find out more hidden goodies in the story like Miktran for example. It just sucks so much on how much characters like him, or Chaltier arent thought of as much, especially Leon since he practically killed himself and choosing to drown instead of something at least a tiny bit less painful ><;

Actually, Kronos and Miktran are the same character. They just changed his name for the localization. The remake was on the PS2 and then again on the PSP, I think. Miktran was actually IN the swordian Berselius, having put himself there because Berselius himself actually died, and the lens was damaged, killing the Swordian, too, way back when. And then he spent like 16 years slowly turning Hugo brainwashed and crazy so that he abused his own son...
But yeah, they don't delve into the stories as much in the original PS1 version, or the characters of the Swordians. But yeah, I agree. I really hope they'll pull a Graces f and finally localize it, or that the fan translation patch will finally get finished...

Oh yeah, if they somehow localize the game for everyone sometime in the future, it would be great TT.TT Some of the best tales of games arent even internationalized and translated for everyone to play or even read. Which sucks because there's a ton of fans that would be willing to pay all the money they need to to get their hands on them.
As for Miktran I remembered most of that stuff too, but you dont get to really see or fight him until they did that remake of the Destiny game with the newer graphics from what I remember, I think there were actually a few stories/books made on his story too/how Miktran became the villain he was in the game, but they're really old, and very hard to find ><

Ahhh, unfortunately the Director's Cut, which is the updated (and current canon) version of Destiny hasn't been released in English, and the PS1 version is lacking many things. There are videos of the japanese game on youtube, though, and people who have translated the script. There's also the manga!
