Description I like how this drawing turned out. For reference I used a photo of the introduction to the movie 'Once Upon A Time in the West', which is in many ways the best introduction to a Western film in history, the first 15 minutes of that film is outstanding. The main figure is Jack Elam, did not make a great portrait of him but came kind of close.

Basically I liked the Old West feel to it with the train in the background and the robbers out front waiting for it to come.

Made with colored pencils.

I love the beginning of that movie, the drawing did not turn out that great, but it was absolutely awesome start of the movie. However the rest does not live up to the beginning in my opinion...but in a way all of those old westerns were far too long, 3 or 4 hours for a movie is crazy long.

actually its only about 2 hours 40 minutes but it is slow moving i agree, but i dont consider it a liability, i love the pacing and setting and Sergio Leone's vision of the eulogy of the old west. the cast is remarkable and the final shootout and the revelation to its motivation is freakin awesome as it gets. the first time i saw it i shouted outloud "VENDETTAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!"
have you ever seen The Good the Bad and the Ugly? if not, take a look sometime and let me know what you think
the opening sequence is almost like a mastercalss in film making- the visuals, use of sound, the set, the actors, everything is so rich in detail. plus i'm a big Woody Strode fan i like your drawing, tho its a bit disjointed in persoective, i like the sunlit look to it all. a good effort!

I have see that movie, it is pretty cool but again crazy long in my opinion. Might try a Jack Elam drawing again, honestly in that movie I was kind of upset when he was only included in the beginning of the film. I wish he was a stable character and not just for the intro. Oh well, still amazing scene.

*sigh* young people and their attention spans
then you def dont wanna see Sergio Leone's last film "Once Upon a Time in America" with Robert DeNiro - the directors cut is just shy of 4 hours

i always loved jack Elam tho, hes great in a western with Tyrone Power and Susan Hayward called "Rawhide", 1951 i think, and also in the classic Twilight Zone episode "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up". i think he's in "Rio Lobo" with John Wayne, not sure about that tho.
