Description Most of you know the Ford GT40 as a world-famous race car. But what about this car? This is the 1970 Ford GT70. The GT70 was an attempt by Ford of Europe to replicate the GT40's success on the racing circuit, but with a car designed for the rally circuit. Despite massive research and development, the GT70 would never get it's chance to win. It didn't qualify for the WRC as only 6 (of 500 homologated cars) were built, and the rules changed. Combined with high production costs, Ford of Europe elected to stick with the tried and true Ford Escort for the WRC events. The GT70 was powered by a 2.6L V6 that produced 200hp and 155lb-ft of torque. This mid-engined car sent power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The car would've competed against the Renault Alpine A110 1600s and Porsche 911.
