WB Animation Character Design, YOUNG JUSTICE: TEEKL. Pencil, digital color.The YOUNG JUSTICE series seems to be covering a lot of territory in the DC Universe! I had never even heard of Klarion The Witch-Boy before, nor his cat, Teekl. In the episode, "Denial," these evil characters make their appearance.
Inspired by Mrs. Norris (Argus Filch's cat in the Harry Potter films), I designed Teekl with scraggly fur and whiskers. I gave the cat's markings a magical rune-like quality, and a vial/pendant on the collar, filled with-- blood? Okay, I stole that last bit of weirdness from Angelina Jolie. Haha!
These colors are my own selections, and I thought red eyes would be appropriate. However, this may not match DC's model, or that version which finally appears in the episode.

Nice, Klarion is one of my favorite DC villains, not to mention of the most coolest, so it only makes sense that his cat would be just as.... Wickedly creepy....? Β Don't know the exact word for it, just that I love Teekl's look! The collar with the blood vial is a pretty neat touch, too, so awesome work! Β

It's always fun to see something you've designed finally appear on the screen, or in print. Obviously, the picky perfectionist will inevitably find every flaw, if certain details fail to match the original model. Still, it's a thrill to be a part of such a collaborative creative process.

Actually, I think it is undecided since in some version its a she and others a he. but i think its a she since its were-form is usually with female (to be more feline i guess) attributes

Klarion the Witch-Boy Bum Bum Bum as he calls himself in "Young Justice: World Without Grownups" I think it was (don't quote me or anything) was completely different than they made him in this series. He was younger and funnier, but I still really appreciate getting to see this piece. It is so interesting to see what goes into designing these new versions of characters and reading about what your inspirations are. Thanks for posting this and the explanation of how you came up with him.

"Sins of Youth," I think it was. One of my favorite story arcs. Especially as Conner came to realize that Clark never really "had it easy" as the original Superboy/Superman.
And Bart finally got over his obsession with Gorilla Grodd!
Did you notice in SOY that Klarion (Bum bum Bummmm!) The Witch Boy's beloved Teek'l was a girl cat for the entire run?

Indeed. Young Justice seems to be tackling every level of DC, though I do like the new minor characters like this one popping up here and there.

The only other place I've seen Klarion and Teekl: in the Bruce Timm's Batman Animated Series- (Tim) Robin and Bruce had to stop the kid from completely messing up Gotham.

Well, I admit that I had never even heard of Klarion The Witch Boy, or his familiar, Teekl before.
And I read a lotta comics as a kid.
But Greg Weisman is on-deck when it comes to the vast DC Universe and its history. Greg deserves the credit for plumbing the depths of that universe, scooping up an endless variety of characters, and deftly plugging them into the YOUNG JUSTICE show to create a uniquely enjoyable world for the fans. What Bruce did with his shows was the groundbreaking, pioneer brilliance that provided the firm foundation for other creators to boldly build upon.
Despite the struggles and challenges, it's a very fun time to be working in the comics and animations industries. And it's a great time for the fans.

Klarion appeared in one of 'Batman The Animated Series' episodes, along with Etrigan. In that episode, Teekl changes into a female anthro.
In that same episode, it's said Klarion transformed his own parents into mice. You can imagine what happened next.
