Great View....I'm a Durango born and raised girl....I love your photography, makes me about 20 times more homesick than usual, you capture the area wonderfully.

This I prefer, love the brown tones. So the mountains are on fire? Forest fire control I take it?

They call them "Prescribed Burns" now... used to call them "controlled", but I'm sure you can imagine why that term is no longer acceptable

this is my fav of the two as well, I like wider views, and more subtle sort of coloring.. subtle is not something I'm very good at

thanks!

I guess because they weren't really controlled?

Me too, I like the subtle coloring, you should do more of this for a change

This is a fantastic photo. I'd like to give something more constructive than that, but I really can't see any way this picture could be made to look better.

Actually, this could look great as a letterboxed wallpaper--You wouldn't happen to have a larger version of it that I could use for such a thing, would you?

thanks, but I'll help you out... I don't like the foreground too much... it fits in nicely I guess, but to me it seems unsettled or something.. but I'm being hypersensitive, lol.. Really appreciate the comment. I'll see if I have a wallpaper size, will note when I dig it up or create it..

You're certainly welcome, and thank you for checking on that wallpaper size for me.

Great shot! Once again, you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

I was going to say, "nice mist in the distance", but ack, it's smoke. It's needed though. How are the forests doing from that big fire a few years back?

Well, this one is a prescribed burn, so it's under some amount of control - at the moment anyhow.

They just had a 5 year anniversary for the Missionary Ridge fire a few months back, it was actually very education based - how to avoid such a thing happening again, and how to act/respond more appropriately should it happen again. The "forests" are still fairly scarred, its quite obvious when you drive up through Vallecito that an event occurred there. I hear that it can up to 100 years for something like to recover...

and yeah, I am quite lucky to find myself in these parts - Thanks
