I love the colours of this shot and the whole feel to it

I would say yes, because it would look really cool to see all this sand and just one little flower. But the seaweed does look cool too, so it could work both ways, because the seaweed is so dead looking that the message of the title works well with the shot as is.

This is rad.

well, i guess it depends... anyway, you focussed the flower and that's the one thing i as a viewer centred my attention as well..

the thing i love the most (apart from the sky and the clouds) are the footprints around the flower... it's so... i don't know..
beautiful seems such a poor adjective...

I don't find the seaweed distracting. The footprint, perhaps, but only a little. I particularly like the harshness of the light in this one.

The seaweed is fine. The brght flower just makes this shot even more beautiful, along with the turbulent golden sky...

see, it is interesting with a different composition, too, pretty nice, you obviously know though, that you don't have to obey the rule of thirds !

I don't think the sea weed distracting at all. I think it adds to the pic.

I might have removed the seaweed directly behind the flower so that it wouldn't clutter up the background of the petals. But the seaweed on the right is fine. I think it adds to the texture of the picture.

I'm loving this whole series! I think I've 'ed them all!

aww...this one makes me smile the seaweed...hmm...the fact that the flower is kind of dark makes it blend into the background a little more, but i don't think it's distracting at all...i actually like it that way

firelily24 [2004-06-08 13:49:30 +0000 UTC]

If your intention is to highlight only the flower, then yes, the seaweed does keep the flower from becoming the focus. BUT - it does serve to blend the flower into the whole picture...it makes the flower fit. It just depends on what you're going for. I love the background shot, it is amazing.

Yes nice colours indeed!
The seaweed is fine - it makes the scene look more natural, although by removing just some seaweed may improve the look of the beach.
Good work!

no! the seaweed is nfot distracting! i think it adds to the image actually, among all that gross scratchy stuff isthis soft and lovely flower.

aerochimp1 [2004-06-08 01:06:41 +0000 UTC]

no, seaweed is gorgeous, adds to the shot, dirties it up, i love the whole dirtied beauty bit..
what distracts me is the little red fruit piece guy at the bottom, it keeps pulling my eye away

kellymac23 [2004-06-08 01:00:23 +0000 UTC]

seaweed is perfect ... 'specially considering the title ... your flower is beautiful life growing up amongst dead seawead .... but i agree that the footprint ruins the atmosphere....

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

AndreIllustrates [2004-06-08 00:48:22 +0000 UTC]

i think that the colour od the flower captures you lookk instantely, letting the seaweed on the background, being almost unoticed.
the composition you made turns our look atention to the flower, the rest of the elements you look after the flower, which i presume its the most important one .

oosh [2004-06-08 00:24:01 +0000 UTC]

The flower draws your eyes in and because the seaweed stretches out behind it, it is noticeable. However, it's not distracting. I think it makes the picture that much more interesting.
I love the footprints{?} near the flower.
This is a beautiful picture. Great job.

This, my dear, is a fabulous series.
I love the almost surrealistic lighting in this one. It makes for a very... I dunno the words to describe what it makes me feel. It's like a good glass of brandy that fills the tongue with that satisfying rich fullness and wafts back into the nose with subtle potency. That's the only thing I can think of to compare it to.

MidnightLounger [2004-06-07 22:03:40 +0000 UTC]

personally.. I think the other flowers are better, that is if this is a part of the series.. which it kinda seems like in a way..

heartbeatingfaster [2004-06-07 21:59:03 +0000 UTC]

No, I think the seaweed adds to the whole "midst of..." thing you've got going there. It's a wonderful picture. I love the focus! +F!

I really think it would be a cleaner shot if it wasn't for the sea weed. But it is still beautiful afterall.

silverdoves [2004-06-07 15:30:30 +0000 UTC]

ummm.... my opinion. I like the seaweed, as I heard commented before, it adds depth. Basically it could be done, or not. it depends on what feel you want to express, with the seaweed I get a feeling somewhat equivalent with your title....beauty and confusion, if you wanted a softer, heavenly feel, go with just the sky and ocean, that will bring the focus point towards the sky, which is more uplifting, I like the seaweed for this shot though, becuase the empasis is kind of on the flower, or the weeds and the sky and ocean as an afterthought. but I really like it.

Damn. They keep getting better and better. Jess, this is awesome! I am defintely going to have to fav one, either this or the last. Just beautiful. I love the warm colors of this one, and the different colored flower you used. The seaweed isn't really distracting, it kind of adds to it. I might try dodging out a bit of the flower to bring it out a bit more, but that's just mind. I love how the sunlight illuminates it from behind. Really beautiful, such a warm welcoming feeling this image gives me.
