Description Sterling silver opal inlay spiderweb ring with a detachable spider. The spider's body holds an incredible Australian crystal opal that matches the opal inlayed into the spiderweb. The entire piece was hand-carved in wax and cast in-house. The spiderweb is accented with pink spinel gemstones and black enamel. This is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Second photo collage of the ring seen here~

fabulous!
the design and execution are ... mindblowing

what i probably like most in the process of itΒ΄s development, is that you decided to make the spider removable. it gives the whole piece so much more variety - which is a very important feature for such an extraordinary piece, because itΒ΄s really hard to wear it so that the attention of the onlooker will focus entirely on it alone, so it makes a lot of sense for the owner to be able to simplify it a tad, so it can be worn more "casually" and more often (tho itΒ΄s still very unique and outstanding and thus also demanding without the spider).

what an amzing job you did! makes me wanna go back to gold smithing and learning it properly!

That is gorgeous. Nice positioning of the spider on your finger. I'm expecting it to crawl away. I'm certain Beth is proud to tears.

Thanks! It was a fun ring to photograph We're planning a whole series of removable critter jewelry including more spider pieces. We're hoping to make a matching spiderweb necklace for Beth.... that way the spider can be worn on either piece.

Thanks.... this was Mark's baby.... and to be honest I'm in awe of the piece. In person it's SOOOO much better. When I put it on it feels wonderful.... it's a big design yet it fits the hand like magic. The ring has been cleaned up since I did this photo session... I'll be taking new photos today and tomorrow before it gets sent out to the client. The opals Mark cut for the ring glow with fire.... I think it's the best piece Mark has ever made. I'll be sad to see it leave us

I've been meaning to comment on this for ages.

I've been following the project through its casting to the finish, and I love the way it turned out. To see it go from the wax carving to the finished product is something that's just mind-boggling to me, and as I learn more about metalwork I know its a process I'll never get tired of watching. The hard work definitely paid off, and the finished piece is just exquisite.
