Brenda and the crew gathered off the coast of Catalina to get some ocean mermaid shots. The water was cloudy as the surf stirred up sand, so we only got a few usable images. But this is one of them. I am soooo glad we went though, because the giribaldi fish local to catalina just so happen to match my mermaid tail ^_^!!
Costume: I can post the designs etc... for the mermaid tail if anyone's interested. It took a lot of work to make these tails come into existence. But the basic form is neoprene with flowy fabric, covered with silicon scales.

Try searching Merbellas, Flip Tails, Finfolk Productions, etc. All of them sell realistic lookingΒ silicone mermaid tails and some places you can rent tails from if you just need to rent one for a photoshoot.

So i did a lot of research and planning before i made these tails . . . and i designed them specifically to be photographed (they are quite difficult to swim in). Β i still love them, but i am still learning how to make better and better tails.
however there are a lot of websites out there made and run by other mermaid girls with material recommendations and pattern ideas etc etc. ^_^ happy tail making

Amazing. The way the water flows through your hair ..that matches the color of the tail, that continues to flow along the side until the end. And the kelp forest in the back ground ads the final touch. It's perfectly realistic! Not "costume-y" or fantastical. Very realistic! Amazing!

Really nice shot here again. There is a sort of charming and playful invitation exuding from your eyes, just how I would picture a mermaid trying to lose pour sailors into the silent abyss. The match of colours is very harmonious, your hair and skin making an echo to your tail which fit completely the brownish aquatic plants in the background.

We worked sooo hard to make this photoshoot come together. making this stuff, travelling to another country with everything, and then shooting. it was a huge adventure and absolutely worth it

Btw... I have to know what makeup is used here!!!! O_o It's underwater and it's still perfect! XD

All the normal makeup was waterproof (so, mascara, eyeshadow stick (actually waterproof), black eyeliner and lipstick)
and then i used spirit gum with gold leaf to do a sort of scales effect that reflected light. i put it around my eyes and on my arms
I've used Ben Nye cake makeup for other underwater sets, but i didn't need any fancy colors. so i did a sort of minimalist natural look for these
