Commission forI was originally going to do a little christmas card for her, but since I was a total slacker and didn't get it done till FEBUARY omg, uh... I went ahead and did a full on watercolor/colored pencil hybrid picture for her instead.
The butterfly part is done in colored pencils, the rest is watercolor.

Oooh wow, you have such control of your watercolor. I'm working toward things like that, but my watercolors are still way too pale sometimes. Gorgeous colored pencil work.
Would you consider joining *Prismacolorists ? You handle colored pencils like the pro you obviously are, and we have many other members at your skill level as well as beginners. I also favorited your skin tutorial, that's great! Members post tutorials at the club, so if you wanted to mirror your tutorial to the club it would be greatly appreciated. Please check out *Prismacolorists and note me at *robertsloan2 too if you decide to join (for a more rapid response, I don't update the club daily or even weekly because of my disabilities and some other constraints).

Understandable. I try to avoid joining too many clubs, I spend so much time on dA as it is. Though I'm now getting the idea from *TraditionalArt that linking to posted tutorials from Favorites could work as a way to draw them to members' attention as much as posting them in our journal. We might start doing that soon, the next time I go post in the club I'll mention it and get all the members looking for good tutorials.

actually I may have used an atlas moth for reference. I know I had a couple of different types of butterflies I looked up *squints* I can't remember now.

it really does. I was quite surprised with how well. Even if coloring on watercolored paper makes me cringe from the gritty feel.

mixed media...stretch your legs a little. I love the little creatures you draw, I want one not a drawing I want literally. The blend is looking real good. Kinda hard to define where watercolor ends and pencil begins which I would guess is a real good thing. I think so.
