draw stuff from life first before doing what you want to do. understand the basics of anatomy, light and dark values and perspective. practice daily, especially when you don't want to. the key to making things get from your head on paper is first understanding the world outside of your head, a process I'm still working on. life studies first, then what's in your imagination will follow.
