The jays here are rarely still enough for anyone to get a picture. I like your photo too, very nicely focused

I was very fortunate! Β They do not stay still long here either!! I had literally 2-3 seconds tops in order to frame and take the shot!

This shot is pretty boss.Β I know what you mean, I spent a few days aiming at every bluebird I saw, well, you can see the best I got in my gallery, nothing as nice as this.Β I'm not sure if I should add more range (up to maybe 500mm) or get something of medium range that will autofocus (longest autofocus lens for my camera is 200mm).Β

I am using a Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 lens and am totally in love with it's performance. Β I will be picking up a 2x teleconverter for it in the near future. Β It won't have the speed of target acquisition but for those times where extra reach is needed and lighting is good I think it will serve me well. Β Especially for bears and other things like cougars where I just do not want to be thattt close to it!
For shots like this and for birds in flight though this lens makes me really happy!

When I am out and about with my camera and I capture something really good I am always thinking " omg I cant wait to show her this!!"
