This is my design idea for Pink Diamond! I tried to make it look like the other diamonds design and Rose's design.
Plus... SPACE FASHION!!!
I had an idea that since Pink loves humans, I'd find it weird she'd want to destroy life on earth... and if Rose loved humans too why did she shatter her?? So I thought that Pink asked Rose to shatter her... As like a last order? So yea..

It is a bit tedious that I have to tell every Steven Universe than about their belief that Rose Shattered Pink Diamond.
-Rose did not shatter Pink Diamond.
-Rose rejected the Breaking Point.
-Rose's Sword cannot shatter gems.
-If the shattering was a hoax, then it was to fool the diamond authority, most specifically White Diamond.
-If PD did get shattered, then Rose was not the one to do it, most likely White Diamond.

I wholly agree with your theory!
I believe that Pink was kind and compassionate, but as strong as one would expect a Diamond to be. She fell in love with Earth and its beauty just as Rose did, and she wanted to protect as much of it as she could before it was fully colonized. That was why she took humans for her zoo, to preserve (in her eyes) its most wonderful form of life.
In the end, though, she couldn't let it be destroyed. And she knew she couldn't turn against her sisters. Three of them against one of her? Hardly a fair fight. That was why she ORDERED Rose to shatter her... because she would rather have it be done by her than by them. If the other Diamonds did it...
they might not have left anything behind to put back together.
Pink trusted her to be strong enough to protect Earth in her absence. When the war was over, Rose would find her pieces, bring back the Diamond she served so loyally, and they would protect the Earth together...
but everything changed the day she discovered that Steven would be coming into the world.
An unspoken task, which she would entrust to the boy who she knew was destined to change everything.
...At least, that's my headcanon.

Pink wanted Rose to shatter her because Yellow wanted to destroy it with the cluster and the rebellion might delay this project.

I have a theory that Pink actually transferred her mind into Rose to destroy her gem and start the rebellion. Rose inherited all of the powers such as body swapping, healing tears and so on from Pink, and as an added plot twist, this would technically make Steven Pink Diamonds son. Which might come into play in stopping the Diamonds in the future.
