Personal Log Benjamin Tilly

"It's our second day out here in the Stellar Nursery. Lieutenant Quin was adamant that we spend at least three days out here to collect data using the runabouts equipment. So here I am helming the Indus while Quin is in the rear science module conducting sample analysis. Elsa touched base with us an hour ago on a routine check in. Right about now the Captain should be in the middle of hosting the newly contacted race the f'Ni. It's not everyday we are able to contact a warp capable species in this pocket of space. We had been following them back to their home world when Quin detected some unusual readings coming from this nursery. She expressed her desire to observe those readings up close right away. The opportunity to interact with f'Ni fell onto deaf ears. I'm sure the captain could have said no, but when you have the resources to be in two places, why not use it.

The only exception was when Quin volunteered that I come along with her. It hasn't been so bad though. We almost encountered some severe gravimetric eddies but somehow the runabout prompted a course correction and followed through on its own accord. I have chucked it to the refitted sensors but the Lieutenant claims that the Indus has some sort of sentience. Kind of hard to believe in my opinion but Quin isn't the only one to think so. A lot of the other crew have talked about the times the Indus 'behaved' a certain way, or gotten them out of trouble without any input of commands. Even Captain has never quelled those rumours. All she says is that the Indus has been a constant companion and has gotten her out of tight spots time and over.

Out of curiosity I pulled up the runabouts service records. Indeed the Indus has been with the Captain for every one of her commands. The Mononoke, the Astra and now the Elsa. Even more interesting is that there are a lot of classified files requiring command clearance. What kind of missions did this runabout go on with the Captain? In any case I think once we get back to the Elsa, I want to have a chat with the shuttle bay crew. Maybe they can give me some insight.

In the meantime, I will go to the back and give Quin a hand.

At least the nursery looks pretty....
