Types like the Constellation Class cruiser continue to prove their versatility in the field thanks to a variety of mission equipment and steady improvements in Warp efficiency. Meanwhile, purpose built ships with heavy armament like the Georgiou Class battlecruiser have recently halted production as Starfleet attempts to reduce its wide variety of active ship classes. By the end of the decade, Starfleet expects to prompt an evolutionary shift in starship design. As there is now a priority to retire older vessels, sustain technologically adaptable ships and introduce a new generation of designs befitting the 24th Century.
